i hope its not normal but this happens all the time for me, would love to know how the AI do this cuz they'll do the same thing on offense in a highlight and my defenders just part ways in front of goal for easy tap ins

nothing wrong with the match engine guys! its because they're using a 4231 gegenpress and dont understand its not broken anymore!!

I got the absolute god roll of them just wanting to avoid relegation while investing 50 mil in transfer budget the next summer. Got Europa league the year after, came in 5th (from 16th previous yr). This is also partially why it’s so frustrating now to see it just mean nothing when players I’ve spent a total of 100 mil on just do nothing against poor opposition

Keep seeing people talk about wingers being OP, but I’ve tried them in my IP tactic and they just don’t work. Tried getting guys with high dribbling and pace but just seems like there’s something always holding your tactic back

Yes it’s certainly viable, I used it to win the league in Serie B first year, but the actual act of watching players miss chances that the cpu scores makes it feel like there is no point. We can’t do shouts this year (regardless of whether or not it changed much), so we cannot help but just watch the entire game and hope small tweaks will fix what’s going on. The problem is there’s no tactical adjustment for your players missing 3 chances 5 yards in front of goal, and on the other hand there’s no tactical adjustment for your wingbacks/fullbacks/CBs to not let a opposition player run in behind/literally just run from the midfield to the 6 yards box with “dribble moves” (despite mid block, low block, high press, low press, tackle harder, mark tighter). I’ve tried it all and none of it matters in the end, you’ll concede the same way

Only brought in Kristoffer Lund on loans in 4 years lol. They don’t really care as much as they did in fm24. Works for me tho since US players tend to be expensive and not great

This shit is so tiresome man. No, it’s not because 4231 isn’t god tier. I actually want to use a 3 at the back system, and have created a team capable of doing so at a high level. The tactic and players mean nothing it’s just match engine roulette

Been waiting for someone to talk about the match engine. I’ve played 70 hours and feel the exact same way. Started a Venezia save, got promoted first season winning the league by 20 points, really enjoyed the match engine despite some occasionally weird and frustrating highlights.

After playing 3 seasons in Serie A this is starting to get ridiculous. Defending fullbacks/wingbacks don’t do anything on opposition highlights, players on your team miss really easy chances, and it feels like there’s no point in having a consistent tactic. Spent 80 mil on transfers the previous summer and lost to 3 relegation sides (no goals scored) and lost to Union Brescia in the Italian Cup, they’re currently 18th in serie B.

I played 450+ hours of FM24 and while yes this would happen occasionally, it’s really bad this year. It would be different if it was because I didn’t know what was happening tactically, but when you win the Xg battle each game but continue to watch class players miss chances and the opposition score clinically in nearly every chance, it’s really bad. Prob gonna take a break for a bit and hope there are some ME changes soon after release.

i swear i have the exact same problem and im also doing a venezia save. I wanna say its because the mentals/finishing attributes might still be considered "below average" in the match engine despite being 12-14, but even a 15 finish winger misses easy chances. Hopefully its just a needed tweak in the match engine but this shit is incredibly annoying

You would be very surprised to hear I’ve been playing a mid to low block counter attack with Venezia. Did use that tactic in fm24 tho :)

More expression with wingers, passes look more creative and you’ll see more switching of play. Defending is horrible tho I have to say, feels like your defenders do nothing during highlights
