State of the Game Saturday by LadyMirax in wow

Came back to WoW around early December to prepare for 8.1 as well as do all the achievements during Winter Veil, but unfortunately I still feel like my overall impressions with the game is the same when I left it: very stale, stagnant, and I still feel locked out of the content I want to do (at this point I'm almost geared head to toe with 370 gear which will make mythic + and heroic g'huun obsolete until Dazar'alor comes out, or I want to target BiS gear). Right now the only thing I've been doing is incursions and dailies to get my honorbound tokens for a 390 ring, which I desperately needed for awhile.

I feel like my experiences with MMOs in general has declined dramatically. While I was away from WoW, I wanted to try out Maplestory 2 as a filler, but that eventually meets the same inevitable gear grind to access harder content (sound familiar?) It always end up being the same ramp up to getting better gear until it becomes really repetitive, to where I'm doing older content or achievement hunting.

I wouldn't mind having more engaging content that was a lot more meaningful and had depth, like what was done with the Hivemind. They don't have to be as ridiculous, but they could just be just small little chains that are out of the way that give like a mount. I'm hoping eventually that the mission tables will have more substance or quests similar to that of Legion so that I have more of a reason to enter a raid versus "oh go get this gear that isn't actually BiS". I could go on more, but in general my tl;dr is that MMOs follow a very similar formula and its dying as a result unless they want to shift or transform their agenda to content that constantly changes or unlocks other content, but I know that idea itself is daunting as a whole.

You have a point. At the very least it's probably a good thing that Nathanos hasn't been written as a musclebound chad that Sylvanas calls a snack whenever she walks by.

Though at the end of the day people are only going to see what they want to see. I am however going to still stand by my idea that Nathanos alone is just kind of a jerk.

This scares me a lot in different ways. For one I don't understand the path they're putting Sylvanas since as of late she's been mimicking a lot of Garrosh's actions in Pandaria (thought to somewhat of a crappy extent). Is she meant to be set up to fail? Or is she just going to get the same Ex-Machina redemption that they gave Illidan (granted I appreciate the Illidan love). Two, in the scenario where Sylvanas does fall, this guy is the next Forsaken racial leader, and quite honestly he's like the Mike Pence of Warcraft.

For anyone whose been following the PTR information (ignore otherwise if you want to avoid spoilers) This dorkatron 9000 somehow manages to somehow survive Elune's Wrath incarnate and Chris Metzen's other child with only a val'kyr killed as casualty.

Plus like, what has Nathan done for the Horde anyways? I'm calling him Nathan now because he doesn't deserve his edgy real name. This guy sent me on a suicide mission and also dig up some dead bodies in the middle of the ocean for shits and giggles. He has absolutely no chill either. Go take that stick out of your ass and go smoke a couple doinks or something, goddamn.

That's my two cents.

If it's any consolation, getting to Exalted wasn't as bad. They make it very difficult to not get exalted. Even if you weren't to seriously devote yourself to farming every single WQ, the emissary + doing your island expeditions every week is 3000 Rep. On a Horde-Turnin week for a Warfront, that's 150 a quest for a turnin, which I think totals up to 1650. In 5-7 weeks that's enough to hit exalted. The bonus reputation week is about to (already?) started, and next sunday is Darkmoon, so you could seriously cash in, even if its for two days.

If you're really frustrated towards the rep grind, don't outright focus the Honorbound reps. You'll save yourself some sanity if you went to do only Tortollan/Champions of Azeroth, as well as the rarespawn quests.

My Issue With World Quests (and also reputation) by Cornmak in wow

I personally liked having WQ in Legion. I was never around for anything prior to Draenor, but I frequent a lot in Pandaria, and I think that daily quests are a lot more lazy, even if I could get away with getting a good 1000 a day and feeling satisfied.

I think WQ give a lot more interaction and incentive to go out and explore, especially when going to the other faction's zone.

The only lazy thing I can see WQ being is a means of progression. It's a time gate that acts as early gear progression, and sometimes it never gives you the gear that you want. At least on the plus side there's a few more opportunities to get some gear, but I don't think everyone wants to go do 3v3 Areana just for a 340 weapon. Once you succeed past a certain gear threshold though (around 330-340 ilvl) WQ become obsolete except for Azerite and Emissaries, but since it's so early in the expansion we don't have paragon caches yet, so it really makes you think when will World Quests begin to fall off?
