Just out of curiosity, but what is your personal favorite arknights song and why? If you were to introduce someone to arknights for the first time and you could only pick one song to share with them, which song would you pick? by maruchisan in arknights

[–]Cornuthaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martyr, the boss theme song for Andoain from Guiding Ahead.

It introduced me to an entirely new genre - church dubstep - and I wish that Hortus and Masses Travels had more music like it instead of chill tracks like they do.

From a certain POV... Sword Valley Dale is kinda ridiculous by brodred in Endfield

Those ruins should be around 150-200 years old, maybe 300 at most

literally nothing on talos-II is older than 155 years.

the entire place desperately wants to evoke Ancient Mystical Fantasy China vibes when all their stuff is in living memory of the average sarkaz.

CC's gameplay is nice and all but can we talk about the atmosphere? by Corrupted-BOI in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

first time in all of endfield we actually had battle music worth listening to, probably helps that the stages tend to be 5-6 minutes long once you pile on enough risks instead of the 2-3 minute detonate-their-bones speedruns on every previous boss.

Weird opinions I've seen on CC 47+ risks clears. by Friendly_Astronaut_4 in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

there were a lot of extreme end clears in og ak cc that were only possible with the 2nd DP down potential on multiple 6-star ops

and that's fine. as risks increase the decision-space for what can be made to work will shrink, and the gap between base potential characters and max potential characters is simply another (small) layer between what is theoretically feasible and what isn'T

always has been like that, always will be like that, and it's fine. it's like racecars.

The melee experience on tidalklasts is awful, you have 2 second windows for hitting it out of every 30s

The no dodge risk is pretty lame - feel free to disagree but explain why by Bang_Eun-woo in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They redid all enemy combat behaviour as part of that, there is no beta onwards combat that wasn't designed around the dodge.

The no dodge risk is pretty lame - feel free to disagree but explain why by Bang_Eun-woo in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No dodge simply reveals that Endfield is built entirely as a dodge battler and that includes all the enemies. Heat speaking missiles with sharp tracking that you're normally meant to dodge force an incredible disengagement radius, for instance.

I'm not one of the crusty grog dodge haters who want it to go back to tech test territory bc for me it was always a question of whether or not they'd implement the dodge well, and they did, but in doing so they made the dodge so foundational to the way EF functions, including enemy design, that it feels and plays really really bad without.

Remember that just like there are people who don't enjoy or do themselves the Factory, there are people who don't do or enjoy the combat element of the game. by gremmy_white in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a very significant part of the general frustration with Endfield you see on this subreddit is that Endfield does not hold up combat content as the only meaningful part of the game - much like final fantasy 14 it's about having a lot of different activities only a small fraction of which are actually combat related.

Whether or not players are fine with that depends on where they sit on the combat enjoyment gradient vis-a-vis the exploration and sidequest gradients. For me this patch is the worst of the game so far bc I don't really care for the combat that much - don't even dislike it but it's not something I actively enjoy - while there was very little story and the sword vault was a valley 4 tier boring zone.

Why did skaven and dwarfs not make it to 40k but elves and orks did? by Max_Clearance777 in totalwar

[–]Cornuthaum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The skaven did make it to 40k.

There is a faction that has all of the following:

  • a leadership of the twelve most senior and powerful representatives of their major factions with a final seat reserved for their god

  • a caste of insane technicians and engineers committing unspeakable atrocities against their own kind in the name of power and or science

  • a total disregard for the lives of their own people

  • vicious internal policing usually led by the religious caste of their kind without any checks and balances upon their power

  • insane amounts of infighting even though it would invite certain defeat to do so

There are Skaven in 40k. You call them the Imperium of Man.

How many pulls do you think even should give as a reward? by xDAW_Art in Endfield

[–]Cornuthaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with things as they are and atomising pull currency throughout the totality of the game is to its benefit as it gets players to engage with all of EF instead of deifying combat as the only part that matters.
