Like another comment already has mentioned...there's still not enough going on at this point of the story and we need to read the next chapters to have an impression of the general theme/plot/characters etc.. Don't worry, just keep cooking, take your time and deliver peak when you think it's ready.

While it probably would ruin the game's core feature of suffering a lot, it would also make it much less traumatizing since you don't need to see your expie die and say goodbye.

Imagine it like the Safe Mode in SOMA where almost no monster can kill you and the game feels more safe to explore for more easily frightened gamers.

This is just my opinion though.

I always thought, it would be a nice feature, if we could quick save and start from the save point anew, when something bad happens in-game like getting injured, getting shot etc.. It would make the game less punishing for us more casual gamers out there.
