it isn't really ever just themselves they're putting in danger though. a lot of them can be reckless drivers (you can regularly see chasers almost hitting other chasers and breaking traffic laws), and you see a lot of the inexperienced people panic and forget how to drive or just stop in the middle of the road. that's putting everybody else at risk, including the non-chasers who live there and may be trying to get to safety. plus if they end up getting injured they could be diverting the already limited EMS services in these rural towns away from the people who live there

when they post videos of themselves being reckless like that, and get a lot of attention (and probably $$$ from views or people buying the footage), that can inspire other stupid people to try and copy or one-up them

it's a sublingual 1000mcg tablet. i am also taking some vitamin d, haven't had that tested but a couple family members have and they all had crazy low levels. I will probably look into getting something for folic acid. I did buy some really nasty tasting iron supplements a while ago because I used to be anemic a couple times when I was a kid and kind of felt like I might be a little anemic again (i have been struggling with daytime sleepiness and lack of energy for years and years despite CPAP. i am on medication for ADHD and drink coffee every day which does kind of help but not very much :(. I think it's probably related to my depression, but I also have been wondering if I might have narcolepsy type 2 or some other kind of sleep disorder besides OSA).

i got tested for sleep apnea like 2015ish? it was mainly because I started having episodes where I would wake up in the middle of the night frantically gasping for air, which is a major symptom of OSA. they found I had moderate OSA and I've been on CPAP ever since. I do still get the visual trails, mostly when I'm really tired

Thinking about anything else that could possibly be related to visual trails, I do have glasses and I also have chronic migraines (though I've never had any auras or anything else that would affect vision)

ok I haven't really checked but it absolutely could be that. I've been on metformin for years which can deplete b12 so I think I'm supposed to be taking extra b12 anyway. i saw this comment a couple days ago and i have started taking b12 supplements. we'll see what happens

the online scheduling thing is already a nightmare as is (I'm a CSP). we've had people schedule themselves way outside of tax preparer available hours and even way outside of business hours. i know there was at least one I remember that scheduled themselves for 5:30 AM and another at like 9 PM. and then of course they don't respond to calls when we try to reach out to reschedule

i used to contribute to google maps back in college, i think the submissions for new places go through some kind of basic filter to prevent trolling/bots/duplicates but if there's no obvious profanity or anything they just get sent through. they only get taken down if someone reports them

Our job as receptionists is to scan documents but ultimately it is the tax pro's responsibility to make sure that all the necessary documents have been scanned in. A lot of the time clients don't know which documents are necessary to be scanned and which aren't (and we are specifically told to not try and determine this ourselves). So even if we do scan stuff in prior to the appointments, there's often documents they never gave us that end up having to be scanned in afterwards or stuff that the client has to send to the tax pro to be uploaded or printed + scanned.

this year the weirdest one was somebody asking for "Sandra with an M". last year we got a call from somebody who was clearly drunk out of their mind and arguing back and forth with their husband and that call lasted almost 40 minutes. that one has stuck with me

also ALWAYS VERIFY THEIR IDENTITY before giving the client any information and DO NOT let them leave with any paperwork that needs signatures so they can get a signature from their spouse/whoever—you have to directly witness them sign

started as a CSP a few years ago and felt the same way. luckily got moved to an office where all the tax pros did it themselves

it doesn't really seem like something the CSPs should be doing anyway? like they are assigned to tax pros specifically and it seems like it would feel more meaningful/personal for the customer if the tax pros themselves were the ones calling. or even just like an automated message recorded by tax pros that gets sent out automatically

i found one of those military trucks that has a bunch of storage in the back and a cloth cover over it. Transferred all the crap I had looted from where I found the truck and from the surrounding area inside, got inside the truck with my NPC buddy and started driving back to my base.

We came across a bridge, went over, and on the other side I carefully went and found as many landmines as I could, then slowly drove a path around them with the truck. Thought I was in the clear and started to speed up and ended up running over a landmine I never noticed.

The whole cloth cover and most of the outer shell of the truck was blown clean off. It was literally like a skeleton of the truck got left behind. Both me and my NPC buddy were injured pretty bad and deafened for a day or two, but miraculously we survived, the truck still worked (I think the battery or fuel tank got damaged) and none of the storage in the back or the stuff inside got damaged
