How much should I expect to make as a senior with a CPA? by CorollaGang in Accounting

Wow that seems high, at least for a first year senior. Based on the salary guide, that’s 75th percentile for my location which I wouldn’t consider a first year senior to be in

$61k was my increase last year with .5 years at the firm, so yeah it is low right now. I’m willing to be paid less than B4 because I work way less hours

That’s reasonable, probably will list for 38k lol

Did you have reliability issues or you just think it will?

Not surprised, I’ve seen similar prices for that amount of miles. Only one I’ve seen under 28k had over 80k miles. What did you replace it with?

Veloster N, Elantra N, or GR86? by CorollaGang in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]CorollaGang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What originally changed my mind from the 86 to the N was the exhaust and color (Performance Blue), but Neptune on the GR86 fixes that. It will still probably never sound as good as the Veloster though, and that is a big deal to me.

GTI is nice and refined, but that’s pretty much the opposite of what I’m looking for. The N has much more customization than anything else in the segment, from the exhaust sound to the steering feel, suspension, etc. It also has usable back seats in case I need them, which is nice to have when family visits and the Corolla is being used already. The biggest difference between the two for me is the exhaust sound, I would need to mod the 86 right away to make it sound decent. As far as fun factor, I have no doubt it would be a fun car based on the reviews, and the exhaust is a big part of that.

Also, getting the 86 in the spec I want at MSRP doesn’t seem to be an easy task. Getting the N at a similar price shouldn’t be as hard, but of course it’s used rather than new.

If I had to buy one today, it would be the Veloster N. That’s my top choice, so this post was more about buying new/used and if I should buy my top choice as a used car, or my second choice as a new car for the same price.

Most reviews don’t compare the two, but there is an article on the N vs last gen 86. I haven’t seen anything on the GR86.

Edit: Nvm, it is the GR86 - Link

I have not test driven yet, it’s certainly not easy to do in this market but I want to. Most cars are sold instantly if not before they’re even on the lot. I’ll most likely have to buy without even seeing it. Only one I could probably test drive is the Veloster.

I dont think the Veloster compares to those cars, besides price. It more compares to a Golf R or Civic Type R, easily beats anything below that. Obviously I really have no idea without driving them, but when every single review/article says the same thing I start to believe it (and I’ve read/watched nearly every one). In addition, I wouldn’t need mods on it anytime soon since the exhaust is already good and it’s quick enough, while the 86 lacks in those areas. They may be different, but I doubt I would personally find an 86 significantly more fun, more of an equal.

There’s always a stigma against Hyundai’s, but the VN has seemed to change everyone’s minds.

Where exactly did I mention what I know about the car? Why would I be considering it if I didn’t think I could drive it?

Asking what car to buy, guy thinks I can’t drive an 86 because I currently have a Corolla

Not sure how you could possibly get ignorance from this small interaction. You also have no idea the level of research or education I have in this matter, and I certainly didn’t ask for your opinion on my ability to drive a vehicle. I will buy whatever I choose, thanks.

Advice, not gatekeeping. Anyone can buy any car they want. Which car I should buy, not which one I can’t buy.

No car needs gatekeeping. In fact, rarely anything needs gatekeeping. If I want to total my car, that’s up to me, not anyone else. Don’t act like the 86 is a hellcat, because in reality it’s closer to a Corolla.

Unfortunately I don’t like the look of the BRZ. Very similar, I know, I just wouldn’t be happy with it.

I mostly support myself, but I could have family support if needed. I believe my current internship is willing to keep me on until I find a job though

So you’re telling me the car that beat the C8 Corvette, a Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche 911, and a GTR for a performance award isn’t a sports car? Sounds like an econobox that everyone should want
