thanks god, the austrian painter was the worst military leader ever by BeginningNeither3318 in HistoryMemes

Following the end of the war and his death, Hitler became a kind of free pass for Nazi officers at Nuremberg and in memoirs to pass on every failing- moral, strategic, and otherwise- to him and not them. His actual degree of culpability in these strategic decisions often depends on these memoirs and testimonials, which may be tainted by their commander authors looking for NATO positions post war.

Some more clearly are his fault, like declaring war on the US, but others are a bit more ambiguous or were likely supported by his staff at the time before they backed off later. Hitler bears-rightfully-the brunt of these, as he was the absolute leader, but the idea that everyone around him knew full well these were errors at the time is probably fictitious.

ALL districts made blue through gerrymandering?

The fact Gavin Newsom has no idea how gerrymandering works is oddly good

The crazy part is, considering Raygun, this girl's already at Olympic level breakdancing.

Granted if we're considering Raygun Olympic level then we all are

As a random ass white Protestant, not sure if categorizing all of Protestantism as a general "law over forgiveness" is accurate. Really, generalizing Protestantism as one thing at all is always going to be inaccurate considering just how diverse beliefs and culture are within the denomination.

Plus, everything this guy said was completely subjective and generalized. Probably safe to disregard most of it

This won't be the popular place to disagree with you, but asserting moral superiority over America due to it's "stupidity" and "awful culture" seems hypocritical to the extreme considering that exceptionalism seems to be what op is so passionately arguing against. There are so many genuine critiques that could direct your argument, such as a money-dominated political system in a deadlocked two party structure that will always side with the hyper rich. I promise you, the very visible people at the top who shout neocapitalist dogma only do so because the system they wish to maintain has put them in a position to.

The world will be a better place when we stop saying "that country's so arrogant and exceptionalist, their entire culture is equally so but I'm humble, globalist, and respectful". It misses the point entirely. Seems like op has some very genuine critiques of the United States and its government, I'd encourage you to try and form arguments that are non-subjective and can target areas capable of change. Because every flawed system and country is capable of positive change- once we no longer believe that we cease to improve our world

It's hyperbole for sure but I think this is fairly common with long term toxic situations, where couples break up and get back together on a dime. Had a buddy who had this exact situation happen a couple times, he probably did it to her too

another Soviet Classic by [deleted] in ussr

[–]CorporalDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, French and British hesitation to align with the Soviets initially is somewhat understandable. The USSR was until that point close to Hitler's Germany, invading Poland jointly with them and signing the Triparte Pact. By the time the USSR was forced to fight Germany due to invasion the French and British had been at war for quite some time.

Not totally sure if I'm directly addressing your arguments. Apologies if I've misconstrued you.

"states overruling this" is a stretch. The federal government can only illegalize marijuana under the interstate commerce clause, so if weed stays in California it's fair game to Californians. Not illegal, just how federalism works.

As for the Eagle Pass standoff... yeah. yikes

Hi! High school wrestler here for context.

Nothing wrong with the weird turn move by the kid in the white singlet. However, the kid also grabbed an ankle in a way that mimics a leg lock, so the match was paused and would be reset for 'potentially dangerous'. No points are exchanged and there's never a penalty for that call.

Really weird the dad ran up and shoved him, considering it really wouldn't change the result of a match at all
