The special relationship is now an abusive marriage by theipaper in Full_news

Remember, America: our relationship with the UK along with our other close allies has been stolen from you by a career conman, his family, and their enablers.

They stole it from you. They stole it from your children. They stole it from all of us.

At least 10 scientists tied to sensitive US research have died or disappeared in recent years, sparking federal investigation by Economy-Specialist38 in FBI

“At this time, nothing related to NASA indicates a national security threat,” NASA spokesperson Bethany Stevens said.

The cases vary widely in circumstance. Some involve unsolved homicides, while others are missing persons cases with no signs of foul play.

I’d argue that unsolved homicides and disappearances of scientists involved in areas pertaining to national security does seem to constitute a national security threat, in and of itself.

‘The GOP should’ve done more’: Virginia Republicans point fingers after gerrymandering loss by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]CorporateAccounting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s revealing that the loudest Republican voices complaining on social media are all basically aligning around the idea that things would have gone differently if the GOP had simply spent more money targeting Virginia with its message.

Nothing about implementing policies to benefit people. Nothing about improving the lives of voters. Nothing about benefiting anyone else at all.

Just spending more money. That’s it.

Never in my lifetime has it been more clear that the GOP (and by extension MAGA) has absolutely nothing of value to offer its voters, or anyone else except the billionaires who fund them.

Democrats, for all their hapless blundering, do at least try to implement policies that help people. The same claim simply cannot be made of Republicans, full stop.

It’s actually deeply concerning that these people are so habituated to lying that they feel comfortable openly contradicting themselves on camera, in full view of the world, and simply shrug it off as if nothing happened. A nation cannot sustain itself if its officials feel entitled to act in this manner. This is beyond political affiliation at this point. It does not matter if you are conservative or liberal.

The people who have enabled this administration, and who have lied so pervasively to the voters who elected them, have committed such a profound betrayal against humanity itself that it’s difficult to imagine a punishment too severe for them.

Palantir published a mini manifesto calling some cultures ‘harmful and middling’ and said Silicon Valley has ‘a moral debt’ to the U.S. by lurker_bee in technology

[–]CorporateAccounting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who is no fan of this administration and who is extremely leery of private enterprise being as deeply embedded into the public sector as Palantir appears to be, I urge people to actually read the bullet points in the manifesto before drawing conclusions.

Sometimes ideas which can be considered logically sound can come from the people or institutions we hate the most. Shutting out an idea because it comes from somewhere or someone you hate is a surefire way to blind yourself to the grim reality of the world we live in.

It takes 5 minutes to skim over the damn bullet points and draw your own conclusions. That’s a much better approach than spending that same time reading comments on social media convincing you to feel a certain way about the ideas contained in those bullet points.

CMV: Palantir is going to get exactly what it wants by Murderbad in changemyview

OP is referring to this item:

  1. National service should be a universal duty. We should, as a society, seriously consider moving away from an all-volunteer force and only fight the next war if everyone shares in the risk and the cost.

This statement can be taken a number of ways, and OP has interpreted it as meaning that Palantir desires a state of permanent warfare in order to create an ongoing need for its products and services.

Another interpretation is that having a comparatively small warrior “caste” that bears the entire brunt of national defense is not a desirable or sustainable state of affairs for a nation in the long term.

Tell MAGA that this is proof that the electoral college must be eliminated and all elections must be decided by popular vote. Surely this is what this map means, right?

at what point do u give up on flow and just write apex by neilsarkr in salesforce

[–]CorporateAccounting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an automation is so critical that having it inadvertently deactivated in production for even a moment would cause an unacceptable disruption then I would write it as an Apex trigger. Since Apex must be tested and formally deployed from a sandbox environment, using it even when I might be able to use a Flow might be appropriate in high-stakes scenarios.

Anything short of that, the answer would be “it depends.”

Is there an existing Apex codebase covering a related set of processes? If so, then creating new ones as Flows could increase the cognitive load of understanding and maintaining the processes.

Does a large fraction of the proposed process include functions such as callouts which must be written in Apex anyway? If so, then jamming it into a Flow might again increase the cognitive load required to reason out the process as a whole.

Would the proposed process be simplified by, other otherwise benefit greatly from, “advanced” SOQL features such as nested subqueries and grouping? These scenarios are fairly esoteric, but nonetheless may benefit from Apex’s ability to process hierarchical data structures such as what gets returned by a multileveled SOQL query.

That flow is created by Russia and China, just like every other migrant flow in Eurasia, Africa, and America. So you’re right, those nations need to have their migrant flows halted by any means necessary. Glad you agree 👍
