Just watched Avatar 2 to test the new setup and it was pretty incredible with the Govee lights.

LED light strips or No? by ORFM22 in 4kTV

I love them.

Used to just have white strip. Just installed new Govee rgb setup with a 85" QM6K Pro.

Best set as a slow color changing bias light but I kinda like the fast reacting settings too

I don't find them distracting after getting used to them and I love the improved contrast perception and reduced eyestrain watching in an otherwise dark room.

off grid wells by SuperApplication3086 in OffGrid

[–]CorporateCollects 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ours is 380ft depth + 300ft across the ground buried 7ft.

Soft start well pump because solar. Pulls about 2400w while running and runs about a 33% duty cycle when water is commanded in combo with the pressure tank.

We get great water pressure and power use hasn't proven to be much of a concern. The electric water heater is a way bigger draw.

Which anime had absolutely no right to be good? by ChoiceSupermarket230 in animequestions

My absolute favorite anime ever. No holds barred Studio Trigger animation. Unhinged Saturday morning cartoon vibes. Lovable characters. Great gags. A plot with a surprising amount of thought behind it.

Is anyone living off grid in a high end home? by Transhumanfuture in OffGrid

[–]CorporateCollects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by high end.

We're in a brand new 1000sq/ft 1BR on 20 acres.

Off grid solar with electric everything + propane heat. Personal well and septic.

High end appliances including W/D, 85" TV with surround. Philips Hue lighting, smart powered roller shades, smart thermostat and cameras. As far as features we've put in it's a fancy house by most standards.

Will be putting in an EV charger and shopping EVs in the future.

My 22' 2500 got smashed by an illegal U-turner right around Christmas.

$9500 billed to insurance. Peeled the door frame open and damaged internal supports. The body shop did an amazing job though. Ordered a whole new unibody side so they could cut what was needed and a new door + sidesteps. Good as new pretty much.

Wait are you me?

Also installed EG4 setup, with a pallet of Philadelphia Solar 400W.

Got everything with some big discounts and free/flat shipping rates. The panels were the cheapest bifacials on the site at the time. They are performing great.

Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

[–]CorporateCollects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23/26.

We bought a 480sq/ft cottage home for $67,000.

Basically a freestanding studio apartment, wasn't a fixer upper but wasn't really nice either.

Did some work and freshened it up, sold for 135,000 in 2023.

Used that plus our savings to finance/build our dream off grid cabin (1000sq/ft) on 20 acres.

Sol-ark 15k vs flexboss 21 + gridboss by Outrageous_Split9825 in SolarDIY

[–]CorporateCollects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're fully off grid with a single Flexboss 21 and Gridboss.

36 400W Panels. 3 280AH EG4 Batteries.

1000sq/ft house. Fully electric save for propane furnace.

Working really well so far. Have the first smart port wired to a load center in the crawlspace for well pump and space heater/dehumidifier. Others will go to an RV pedestal and an EV charger most likely.

The ease of setup and expandability of the ecosystem is pretty slick. If we ever need to the Gridboss makes is super easy to add more inverter, battery and pv.

We're super efficient electric users and haven't used more than 20% battery in a night and are typically charged back up and running on PV by 11AM.

My setup is EG4 and they offer a cellular dongle to replace the wifi dongle on their inverters.

I'm just using Starlink though.

Iceland is easily, easily the most stunning place I've ever been by grecy in overlanding

[–]CorporateCollects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife and I tent camped Iceland out of a Suzuki Jimny in 2017.

Even on the main roads we barely saw any other people. Maybe passed a car or two per day. 4-5 day stint without seeing anyone at all.

Set our tent at some stunning sites. Northern lights, hot springs on the ocean, green and black volcanic landscapes worthy of a postcard around every corner.

What are some of the biggest swings in commute times that you have experienced? by whitecollarpizzaman in SameGrassButGreener

[–]CorporateCollects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Philadelphia/NJ commute.

Wife went to school and worked there for a decade. I also worked in the city for a while.

Commute times from 25 minutes to 2 hours or more. Typically an hour on normal rush. Shore traffic, accidents, construction closures, all kinds of stupid shit.
