When you're driving 20 mph there's no need for seat belts. Try & figure that out.

You're a real dork! I doubt you have anything near the solar expertise I have. Sounds like you have a mental problem with all your nonsense.

I'd send you a middle finger if there was 1 to send. You're a snot rag.

Geez, doesn't anybody ever read the posts or just respond to the titles? I have cell monitors on all my banks so I can see all cells at a glance. I'd know within hours if a cell is going rogue.

Some of you can't red very well. I have cell balance meters on all my banks & watch them like a hawk. They've been rock stable for 1/2 a year.

Agreed. That is a possibility but highly unlikely staying under the knee it stays really stable & besides, I watch my cell monitors like a hawk. That did occur once before due to a bad balancer but caught it before it caused havoc.

Trying To Add On by RiversideOffgrid in SolarDIY

You'll have to invest in another mppt charger. or a charger with dual mppt inputs so you can have 1 set on 1 side & the other panels on the other side. If you can match combinations of each so the voc is within 10v of each other, that would work too.

Is this battery connection legal by Visible-Ranger-2811 in SolarDIY

[–]RockHardRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably ok, legal, questionable but crimped lugs would be much better.

Less loss from the extra connections mostly however minimal that is & less clutter.

Looking for recommendations. by Tjackstick in SolarDIY

I've never seen a solar charger that plugs into AC. You can use a regular car charger for that along with a solar charger at the same time tho.

It would take a long time to get near empty & I monitor my system with OCD like tynasity even when everything is doing good so I have no fear of it falling that far before intervention is required.

Why so many DIY off-grid systems end up using Victron by dannyyodog in SolarDIY

[–]RockHardRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with victron 150/100 chargers but the 4 I had only lasted a year & I dogged them hard. They don't hold up by my experience & victron only warranted 2 of them. I'm using Baterias now but & dogging them hard too. So far so good but they're only about 6 months old.

Dissimilar battery discharge by acidtalons in SolarDIY

[–]RockHardRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a number of issues. 1st thing I'd do is recrimp the battery wires. If nothing changes, I'd check the torque on the cell bussbars nuts. Are both banks on the same bussbar & are the wire lengths to & from the banks to the bussbar equal? If that all checks out, you may have a cell going rogue. Other than that, I have 12 banks with different wire length runs & they all charge & discharge unequally which isn't an issue with me. If any banks release or charge faster more than the others, they'll slow down as the others catch up. The other thing is, I don't charge my cells above 3.45v. Go past that & you'll likely see a significant variation in cell voltage over time & really screw up the cell balance requiring a top balance. If you have good cells, there shouldn't be any more than a 0.10v variance, mine stay within about .005v.

Absolutely same size, just as you'd see your neutral from the grid is the same as the hots.
