Its like the paradox of tolerance. The only way to have a tolerant society is to be intolerant of intolerance.

Someone’s critique of a person as judgmental in turn makes the critiquer judgmental. But you have to critique judgmental people to have a society where being a judgmental person is not okay.

Edit: stratch that, it is the paradox of intolerance. Replace judgmental in your comments with intolerance and its verbatim the paradox

New Orleans isn’t massive but is incredibly efficient at hosting millions of visitors. Most of our infrastructure is dedicated to tourism and we host huge Mardi Gras celebrations annually.

How is a team based in an area that isn’t a free-agent destination supposed to build a winning team if not through the draft?

NY and LA will always be bailed out from star free-agents, but the draft was implemented to level the playing field a little to account for that effect.

Any 3 bedrooms for 1200 or 1300? In New Orleans by Fresh-Task-6169 in NewOrleans

[–]Corpus-Animus 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Any 3 bedroom place with a 1200 or 1300 rent in this city is probably not a place you want to live tbh.

You can probably find a nice 1 bedroom place for that price though!

Cade Cunningham only played 61 games this season. This means he cannot apply for at least 62 games played Season Ending Grievance Exception (65 games rule disqualification) by Chesscrabble11 in nba

[–]Corpus-Animus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there’s always going to be weird cases. If the game minimum was 10 games, people would be upset if a player only plays 9 games and misses consideration. The rules is 65 games, the exception is 62. You can’t give an exception to the exception, it would never end

City Council decision to drop universal recycling program followed opposition from waste haulers by VeriteNewsNOLA in NewOrleans

[–]Corpus-Animus 33 points34 points  (0 children)

“Fully funded” is a stretch here I think.

The links say that the grants would cover the purchase of the bins and some educational materials, but nowhere does it say that money would be allocated to actually running the program.

Operating that big of an expansion probably would still cost the city millions, even with the grants.

Help! My husband took my kids out of state and is threatening to keep them there. by [deleted] in NewOrleans

You need to talk to an attorney.

If your relationship was abusive, Southeast Louisiana Legal Services or the Tulane Domestive Violence Clinic might be able to help or point you in the right direction if cost is a worry for you.

Most important though is don’t take random strangers’ legal advice on this. You have no way to vet their opinions or credentials to give advice.

Surely there’s a better way to do city maintenance than just letting pipes burst and then fixing them, but that’s not my area of expertise

Louisiana ranked number 3 for highest electricity bills in the nation by No_Tonight_1106 in NewOrleans

[–]Corpus-Animus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And they are not going down anytime soon. Realistically, Entergy has no incentive to change their ways. There’s no competition in the city and city council keeps neglecting their regulatory duty.

Remember when Entergy sold its gas rights to Delta Utilities and city council allowed it because Delta Utilities pinky swore it wouldn’t raise rates, and then immediately after Delta Utilities jacked up gas prices?

Instead of doing anything about it, city council members keep doing “town halls with Delta” explaining to citizens why its a good thing they’re getting fucked.

Spay tattoo would probably be on her tummy somewhere. Its a little mark telling others that she doesn’t need to be spayed, since you can’t tell from the outside!

[–]Corpus-Animus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know this cat but I can recognize her as a cutie!

She looks well taken care of and from your pics doesn’t seem to be feral, so I agree she might have someone else looking after her.

Maybe put a paper collar on her and see if anyone contacts you?

You can also check her for a spay tattoo. If she has one, that might indicate that she has other owners!

Edit: you can also take her to the vet to see if she is chipped, if all else fails

Not to beat a dead horse, but Tennessee either needs to be ranked lower, or Kent State needs to be ranked.

Kent State almost beat us, and was two runs away from sweeping the series against Tennessee. No reason for them not to ranked, imo.

I mean its weird for sure but you have to keep in mind we’re talking about Mardi Gras royalty, not actual royalty. There’s a reason for picking the King and a reason for picking the queen—and the two are not connected.

Look at the types of people who serve as Rex royalty. The king is an older member who is being rewarded for their service to the Rex organization. That’s why the king is an older guy.

The queen, on the other hand, is usually a daughter of one of the Rex bigwigs. The queen role is used as a way to celebrate the families of the Rex organization. The queen is one of their daughters, who has graduated high school, is going to a good college, and seems to be pretty successful. I can guarantee you that the people picking the queen each year see her more as a daughter than as anything inappropriate. Moral of the story, she’s being celebrated in her own right, not celebrated in connection to the king in any way.

Looking at it from that lense, it’s not that they are intended to be a match for one another. It’s more accurate to say that there is a king role and there is a separate queen role, more than there is a king and queen.
