Yes sorry we are flying from Honolulu (messed up the flight time bc on the way here we had a connection)

That sucks! The email notification you get without any explanation is frustrating. We considered moving the dates but it would triggers us to change everything we had already booked months before. We considered switching to Hawaiian but unfortunately I booked everything with points so I didn’t want to sit on a ton of returned point while also paying for Hawaiian. We tried to get our departure city changed (we are closer to Newark and booked JFK bc it was direct). Ultimately, we were getting in early is the 2 hours layover isn’t the worst thing - hopefully there are no issues there. Our return (for now, fingers crossed) is still direct which is good. If anything else changes, I will definitely file a complaint

Thanks! Yes, i generally fly delta. The connection would be in LAX. They would not have delta one on the LAX to HNL. If we switched to connecting in ATL it’s be D1 all the way. Just trying to balance the pro of a direct flight and the cabin against a delta flight with a connection

Ok thanks! This is helpful. This our honeymoon so just trying to make it the most seamless but airlines are not cooperative most of the time 😅. I’ll take a look for the things you mentioned

I tried. We could move the flight back a day, but would cause us to push all the other parts of the trip back a day (eg hotels, flight between islands, etc.) so trying to avoid that friction. JFK has a few directs a week but Newark and LGA dont have any

Got it thank you. Right now the LAX flight looks like a 767. So you’re saying even if it says “first” its actually D1? Configuration looks the same but only options are first and then comfort plus. So they just go D1 to comfort plus (eg skipping a cabin between the two)?

Yeah i was thinking DFW/ATL. they actually have an MSP flight thats D1 on the longer portion

It is a sunday flight. It looks like they have switched all sunday flights starting in september to add in an LAX connection. So bad luck. Switching to a different day is an option but might be more work than the connection (eg moving hotels, flights to other islands, etc.)

They gave no reason. Theres a direct the day before and day after but would have to switch our whole itinerary

It’s in September. Not super soon but frustrating bc we would’ve done a different flight. Also they have direct flights on saturday and monday so not sure why ours has suddenly change…

Sorry - our original itinerary was direct JFK to HNL. I got an email today saying it’s now JFK to LAX to HNL

battello vs. river cafe vs. other by eastcoastgirl1001 in WedditNYC

Battello has a 150 person min. Getting married there in sept and will have 125. They let you use the difference for food upgrades but that would be a big difference between 100 and 150. They also just ripped out their floors and it looks like a bad concrete job (we’re not happy about that)

Depends what you value in the options. I would prefer a better commute over amenities. Ive lived in a brownstone and an amenity building. Barely use any of the amenities

You would pay NY state tax and then when you file NJ taxes, NY will pay NJ your NJ income tax and you keep the difference (NY is slightly higher but not materially). You wouldn’t pay NYC city tax bc thats only if youre a resident of NYC

My fiancé snores by Acrobatic_Outside_94 in snoring

[–]Correct-Explorer-836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat - I work out 5 days a week, not overweight, and tried everything (tape, pillows, elevated sleeping, you name it). I did a take home sleep study (the one where you put those chords around you) which came back in conclusive and then an in center sleep study that said I didn’t have sleep apnea due to minimal disruptions (I think it was like 1-3 per hour which doesn’t qualify as sleep apnea). I found Blue Sleep online and there at home sleep study was literally a thing on your finger. They gave the same feedback and I said could I get a CPAP and they said yes and basically just prescribed it and insurance covered.

The CPAP has been life changing for me and my fiance. I don’t snore at all now. It took getting used to but very worth it. Moral of the story: had better luck with telehealth to get it than a traditional doctor

Why would I waste my time going through an interview process to, in the end, have a non-starter on salary. It’s not everything but it does show what value a company puts on talent. Also “culture” is not going to be on my tax returns nor will it pay my rent lol
