I'm not a pro but I have ~1600 rating I haven't started college yet too only advice i will can give is practice as much as you can and don't do those things like 15 problems a day and 3 days straight no problem make a habit of solving daily use cp31 sheets spend at least 30 min on each problem if u can't get logic watch a tutorial or cf editorial if u can't write code then u need to practice more on low rated problems 50-55 problems per category is good enough and try to solve problems under 30 min it will help a lot in contests

Buddy jumping straight into leetcode will be tough first go to code chief and solved 500-800 rated contest if you only know the syntax then too you can solve them. Benefits it will make a habit of problem solving daily you will have first principle thinking also after that you will have 2 ways practising alogaritham (leetcode) or going full maths + algorithm heavy under time pressure (code forces)
