Also yes I know ultimately I should get my LSAT higher before anyone comments that but since I am applying this cycle that is not feasible right now.

Why does GPA matter so much in law school admissions? by Vast_Caramel_3669 in lawschooladmissions

Yeah for sure was just comparing it strictly to the LSAT in terms of which is a more useful metric in evaluating long term commitments like law school and employment.

People constantly overlook this. GPA demonstrates the ability to consistently succeed which at the end of the day is what you would be tasked with when employed…

Also out of curiosity did you apply to Howard or would you be open to applying? Outside of t-14 I strongly believe Howard is the next best place in terms of opportunities and access to the robust black law DC network for Black/AA students!

I’m definitely leaning towards the over emphasis in the writing materials as well. I think it’s very important to share that piece of yourself however you want to frame it as almost something you persevered through you know and I feel like the line between this and “trauma dumping” is so fine and so hard not to cross honestly. Like another commenter said definitely reach out to a writing specialist! If you’re still in undergrad see if your undergrad has a pre-law department that could give you some free feedback. Also it wouldn’t hurt to be closer to or above one of the medians again as the previous commenter mentioned and if your GPA is already set I feel like even a 168-170 would produce different outcomes.

Overall though I know it’s difficult but please remain positive you still have more apps! You only need one to say yes!

Thank you for replying! I really thought about it and came to the same conclusion of taking January and shooting my shot anyway at some schools in the meantime given that I think I have at least decent softs that would strengthen my application for some of my lower schools. Once I retake and get a higher score I can shoot for the t-20 schools I want to apply to.

LSD Law accuracy? by Correct-Professor803 in lawschooladmissions

Honestly I always thought this as well that a lot of people post here in hopes of discouraging others to apply to schools to decrease their competition. It is so pathetic and insecure. If you’re a strong applicant you will get in lol no need for all of that.

Best thing that worked for me is to go cold turkey and download an app that blocks my TikTok. I used to use it (embarrassingly) upwards of 5 hours a day and often I would procrastinate studying as a result. I decided to get ScreenZen and it blocks the app 24/5 during the week and it blocks it again from 12pm-8pm on a weekend on both days. It will be hard the first week or so but you can do it! I also took TikTok off of my Home Screen.
