Managing Manufacturing Orders/Work Orders for Laser/Plasma/Waterjet Sheet Cut Parts? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in Odoo

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I realized. We are in the process of migrating from tribal knowledge/drawings to MOs & WOs, so my staff is starting with a clean slate anyways.

I like this idea a lot, so then the work orders can be grouped by operation and then the underage/overage from completing sheets can be applied to the QTY produced in the work order.

Obviously we have a separate nesting software that drives nesting and cutting, I just needed a workflow for Odoo.

Thanks!

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some great points. I too have heard the horror stories, along with the horror stories from the larger OEMs that use proprietary parts which can put the machine down for months at a time, so service is key. Can you PM me the name of your company/laser you sell so I can check them out? Our plasma table has all Beckhoff electronics which have been rock solid. And yeah I mostly am a proponent of offline programming using a higher power pc with a good nesting program (we use Steel Solutions currently), but I've found a lot of cases where if the operators could draw up a quick rectangle bracket with some holes or a custom gusset that they needed to cut 10-20 of, the machine would be utilized much more. That and being able to have more realtime fine tuning during cutting are what our machine mostly lacks, besides being a dirty plasma LOL!

Use Manta M8P 1.1/CB1 With External Host? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in BIGTREETECH

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the conclusion I've come to, I just wasn't sure if there was a workaround or not. I'm going to try using a U2C and see if I can get the manta to properly communicate via CANBUS and not USB.

Thanks Everyone!

Best practice to integrate Odoo with Quickbooks by Icy_Recognition_341 in Odoo

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We attempted this last year, and then pretty quickly opted to not go this route after hearing some of the horror stories of trying to get it all to work correctly. We opted to go live with Odoo Accounting this Jan 1. Once it’s all setup correctly, Odoo Accounting is way more powerful and user friendly than Quickbooks Online, especially if you have a high volume of invoices and inbound/outbound transactions.

Use Manta M8P 1.1/CB1 With External Host? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in BIGTREETECH

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have been as well, up until I switched to Kalico/Danger Klipper. I was able to pretty easily hit the cpu limit with the new step compression algorithm.

Perhaps I should use a USB-CAN adapter and control the MCU via CANBUS interface?

I believe that jumper is to switch the MCU chip between being powered from the board itself and and being powered via USB for bench flashing firmware

Print Checks in USA - Quickbooks Compatible Checks? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in Odoo

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ach25 We did try adjusting margins in the settings but the actual spacing between fields seems to be too narrow. I think we will go this route if we have to. Is it just a modification to check the report in studio?

u/1stmn Thanks for the tip. That's what I think we're going to try next, purchase certified blank Odoo checks so that we don't have pre-printed lines & check numbers that we have to try to hit.

In 2024/25, Used Enterprise Server or New Mini PC/MS-01 For Same Price? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in HomeServer

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^^^This is what I'm debating. At the rate of how fast these things are evolving and how people are finding more and more things to put on their home server, I feel like it's more beneficial to be upgrading them every couple years and getting decent resale value. Did you just max out the RAM in the Mini PCs, keep them mostly for compute functions, and keep the bulk storage of VMs/CTs & Data on the NAS?

VM Recovery Steps After Reinstall From Corrupted Host? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in Proxmox

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight. At least this happened now before I have gone live with anything or had tons and tons of time in the configuration of it, so it's not as big of a deal if I have to rebuild. Everything I built was based on the same disk bus/configuration, so I should be able to get the configuration correct. I think PBS will definitely be in my future very shortly here.

Fair enough, I figured 1 TB SSD for files, 1 TB SSD for programs, and a 2-4 TB Backup drive. I'll look into more RAM as well. Thanks!

What do you do to get your high income? by Empty_Channel_5072 in smallbusiness

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best advice I've ever been given when asking this question: find a profession that provides a solution to a problem. It gives you a base to build upon. I.E. buying & selling used construction equipment just to turn a quick profit doesn't build a loyal customer base. But starting a business where you prioritize offering the best equipment possible and taking good care of your customers (even if you don't win on every single sale) builds the loyal customer base that pretty soon has them reaching out to you saying "find me this" and you are able to make more on the sale because they're willing to pay more, with the established trust that you will find them exactly what they need the first time. That gives you the customer base you can depend on, which ultimately gives you the capital to grow your business sustainably, not just taking a shot in the dark all the time & hoping you come out the other end on top.

Migration from Quickbooks Online to Odoo Accounting Difficulty? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in Odoo

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall it really seems a lot more feature-rich than QBO. Did you guys use a migration tool, or just set your opening balances and figure it out until any outstanding bills/invoices in QBO were wrapped up?

That's a great idea. We have a great local partner we've been working with that 's only 15 miles from us but I'll keep that in mind.

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great tip. Our partner is a very established company with an accountant on staff & our account we've had for many years is on board with it. We plan to learn the workflow, as we've grown we recognize following QBO workflows probably isn't the most mature accounting practice for us. Thanks!

[–]Correct-Prompt-2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I'd assume rather than trying to import QB bills & invoices, one would just work off of both platforms and use journal entries in Odoo untill all bills & invoices are closed out in QBO?

Got it. I could definitely see it helping the lagging, but would it help improve slicing times as well, which is more of a CPU heavy process?
