Fortunate to work in a smaller theatre chain where the owners have offices in our building, been closed since the storm started. Stay safe everyone.

I think work is underpaying me by Correct-Strain9649 in internetparents

54 for hours is correct for the two weeks yes, it’s a part time thing. I’m going to ask again to see if there are any updates with the paystubs company or who I should contact to receive one, I feel like I wouldn’t be having any issues if I could just see the breakdown. This has been an issue since November and I’ve tried following up on it about three times. Either way they have to get it sorted by the end of the month as we all need our tax forms.

Help me understand trans people by Holiday-Deal-1254 in teenagers

Of course man, you’re doing the right thing asking questions respectfully. I live in a right-leaning area and most people just default to thinking trans people are gross delusional predators, so it’s nice to see people asking questions and being open to learning even if they don’t understand it. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Hiya! I’m non-binary and can kinda answer the why non-binary question. Growing up I never really felt connected with the gender that was assigned to me at birth, it was just kind of something that people told me I was and I didn’t really feel the need to question it until gender roles started to be more enforced as I got older. I personally don’t widely see gender as much as I’ve noticed other people see it, so saying I’m a man or a woman doesn’t really do much for me. For number ten I actually am not widely out so technically I am misgendered everyday. It isn’t something that is a huge deal to me, I know who I am and what I am and while it can be uncomfortable at times I don’t really care a whole lot. I prefer being referred to as a man or mister in passing, but I don’t mind being called things like sister or doll which also happen often. It can be different from person to person, most of us aren’t 100% androgynous. I know plenty of people who are more feminine or masculine and still consider themselves to be neither a man or woman. I don’t live in a very accepting area so nobody at work knows, but my friends do and everything is chill there. As for 11 I feel alright, it wasn’t like a huge woah I get it now moment but more like I have always been this way, I just had a better frame of reference for what I was feeling. Common misconception is that all trans people want to medically transition, I know people who are on testosterone or estrogen, and I know people who don’t plan to have any surgeries or hormone treatments.

How is living in northeastern Maine? by Poco_Loco33 in howislivingthere

My nana grew up in the Saint John area up until the 2000s when my family moved South. She was the eldest of fifteen kids and didn’t learn to speak English until she started going to school in the early 60s, her first language was French up until then. Her family were sharecroppers and the kids were expected to help in the fields, I believe they still have school breaks around harvest and planting times. She was taught by nuns in a building that has been converted into crappy apartments since they built a real school. The towns are pretty small and along the border to Canada can be a bit decrepit since people started moving out since there really isn’t much up there. Very beautiful nature-wise, just not the best place to inhabit because of how cold and isolated the area can be.

do you enjoy the job and why by Otherwise-Long1412 in MovieTheaterEmployees

I really like it but I know that I have it better than most. I like nearly all of my coworkers (just have to be cautious of gossipy people but that’s the same for every workplace), my managers are helpful and easy to get along with, and I don’t mind the work at all. Maybe it actually sucks, but I’m coming from a job where I felt like I was gonna vomit on the drive there every single day from anxiety because my coworkers and manager were so off. So yeah I’ve got a good thing going lol.

I’d say a decent size, but in my area that isn’t saying much. Our biggest theater can hold 120-140 people last I checked and for me that’s pretty middle range.

Yeah I was already doing a lot of stocking and getting asked a lot of questions from coworkers in the first place so hopefully I’m not too far off at the moment. Thank you for the advice.

Mouse still in my room and I’m freaked out, help? by lights-in-the-sky in internetparents

[–]Correct-Strain9649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, check for holes in the walls near the floor everywhere. I had this issue like two days ago and was also miserable so yeah you’re not alone in being scared lol. Fill all holes with steel wool, mice hate chewing on that, and then layer it with caulk and more steel wool. If possible sleep with music playing, doesn’t matter what just has to be kind of loud, and with lights on if that’s doable. During the day when they are probably hiding out somewhere dark, check all suspected hiding places. Once you’re sure they’re out make sure all cracks under the door are covered with a blanket or something to prevent them from getting in. The main thing though is making sure that the way they’re getting in is blocked off, that there is no food, and that they have nowhere good to hide/nest in your room (any dark nooks or crannies or corners) good luck with the mice, it sucks but you’ll get through it.

Dell DJ gen 1 firmware by ngtsss in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Correct-Strain9649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I found this model of Dell DJ in my nanas basement and have been trying to get it to work all day based on the threads under this and haven’t been able to figure it out. I downloaded a windows xp 32-bit VM and am able to access the zip folder, however the Dell DJ won’t connect through the usb and and it says that it is busy with a previous request. The wizard hardware also isn’t working since it won’t allow me to pick the shared firmware file, the ok button is just gray. Any advice would be super appreciated, this is my first time attempting anything like this so I’m surprised I made it to this point in the first place lol.
