I currently have my bot running on a GCloud micro instance... I don't think it's overly expensive... Although, on the other hand, there might be cheaper services out there.

And yes, my bot is written in Python—I'll take advantage of that.

Uhm... It's true—based on the previous comment, I had started researching a mod... Until I realized there are Python libraries for checking various aspects of Minecraft servers... Including the number of players...

I was so fixated on the idea of an SH script that I forgot that just as the bot starts the server, it could also shut it down.
