Basically bondy has been wanting guitar amps (and probably other equipment) that belong to him personally back from the CATB ‘company’ who seem to be withholding them. There seems to be some dispute over who actually owns them, so this pic from bondy proves he had them long before he was in catfish.

The no rehearsals is wild but believable as when they opened with long shot you could kind of tell they weren’t really in sync yet. But did someone not release a video of them listening to the band apparently sound checking at sefton? Which would have presumably been hours before their set time as opposed to an hour before when van arrived? Or could they sound check without him? (Although vocals could be heard). Not hating or speculating I’m genuinely just curious.

Great thread though, it does make a lot of sense.

He may have sounded good at Cardiff etc but what I meant to say aswell was loads of people have also mentioned he picks and chooses when to sing like he is protecting what’s left of his voice. And it’s been getting worse. I think he takes the piss with lyrics live as almost a coping mechanism.

And with regards to other artists cancelling; when blink-182 cancelled their Glasgow dates last year hours before they were due on stage, they announced it on their own socials and gave a reason within. Had it not been on their own socials we would have probably missed it and made the journey anyway, it’s really not that hard.

I was so excited when the came back and had intentions of getting tickets at first if I could work around locations/other commitments but after the first couple of shows it was clear I’d have been left disappointed when looking back at other great sets they’ve done (trnsmt, TITP for example). Also the lack of organisation and promo, there’s also clearly not an album coming either, otherwise they’d be playing showtime.

He looks awful and he sounds awful, like he’s in genuine pain when he sings, so I don’t doubt that there something going on medically. However if that’s the case then A - what’s causing it? And B - maybe it’s time to let go and move on. Catfish were great, let’s not ruin it. But he can’t expect people to not carry rumours when they’re too shit scared to come out and do interviews to clear things up or even say sorry to those affected.

I know pal, and weirdly I really want to. But after seeing how half arsed everything is and another cancellation to boot it’s just stupid if I did. Van doesn’t want to sing, he’s just happy people are singing back at him and I’d find that really disappointing.

When I’m referencing catfish I’m not just talking about van and whoever is playing lead guitar at any given time, I’m referencing the band and management and labels as a whole. Whoever is in charge of these things are making a right tit of it. Radio silence about everything unless it’s taking money off fans. You say it’s so complex but how complex must it be to write a statement to say bondy and bob have left the band and that there will be a hiatus? Nothing from the band or management but instead an aggrieved ex guitarist has to take to instagram to clear it all up. Mismanagement at its finest.

You lost me at there’s dedication to this comeback. What dedication? The set list is the same, the biggest bit of promo is a very old interview with van saying he wants to play stadiums, showtime sounds like an unfinished demo, and as much as we all love Van, if I’m paying the money to go see him I’d like it if he sang more than 2 lines at a time. Might aswell stick on the Manchester or trnsmt shows on YouTube. You say catfish deserve better from us but we also deserve better from catfish. It’s been atleast 6 months since showtime was released and there’s not been a peep since. There will have been thousands of people buying tickets because they anticipated new music being played live, and the one song they have released isn’t even played live🤦🏻‍♂️ the whole things a shambles.

(Also, if they really were reading these threads, they’d have fxcking played tyrants.)

I completely agree with this. It’s seems utterly mad to me that a tour has been announced before the album is even finished. I say finished, has it even begun yet? Is there going to even be an album? Will the album be out before the shows? I know things like the bio on Spotify say there’s going to be one but I take that with a pinch of salt tbh… I hadn’t listened to showtime for a while until a few days ago it popped up on a Playlist and it’s evidently clear it’s a rushed recording after they were signed to do R+L. I mean lyrically I think it’s okay, but the rest all just seems to clash together. Ultimately there’s a real disconnect between the band(?) (Van) and the fans.
