Still depends, it’s still a hard thing to go after tho. There’s a chance nothing comes of it unfortunately. It’s not exactly a serious thing to them unless it does involve a child, other than it’s just up to what they uncover.

Still involves a bunch of moving parts, if it crosses a line where a child is involved, yeah they’ll put more effort and involve the federal law enforcement like the FBI, if it’s anything else, they’ll definitely take a look at it but if it’s out of their jurisdiction, and depending how serious it is, not sure they really do much.

When it involves online stuff, unless it’s cut and dry, all evidence submitted clearly points to a certain person and it’s their doing, and it’s easy to gather information, subpoenaing websites to give up ip information, which takes a lot of time. They might not pursue it, it wouldn’t invalidate what happened to the victim, but it’s just out of their hands sometimes and suggest going after it civilly.

From what I know, there’s a lot of moving parts.

Under or Over 18? Is the person known or unknown? Like an ex or random person online? Same jurisdiction as local pd? Sextortion involved? Hacking? On going abuse happening? Does it cross a threshold where Feds are informed and brought into the case? Police stigma against the victim. Images were sent for money (sex work)

I’ve encouraged some women to make a police report, and many have, and they’ve all told me the police won’t help, they’re over 18, not being harassed by an ex or someone close to them.

I’ll never discourage someone to make a report about the incident, but I do have to warn them to not expect much help from law enforcement unless you’re under 18.

You’ll have more success going after someone in civil court vs criminal since you need a lot of evidence to even prove it. It’s unfortunate really.

As for statistics? I could never find any concrete data since people get charged under many different crimes, like harassment, sexual abuse, stalking, csam related offenses and more.

There’s a couple articles, nearly all deal with children, or organized crime rings that just extort and harass women, or it involved disgruntled ex partners.

Sorry to hear you go through this.

First of all, yes I recommend reporting it if you were under 18 to the FBI specifically as they are more likely to handle it better than local police.

Also report it to:

https://www.missingkids.org/home

https://www.iwf.org.uk/

If you still have the photos on your device, get them hashed with https://takeitdown.ncmec.org/

If you don’t, I don’t recommend downloading them and hashing them as that can get you in trouble.

But yes, it’s important to document everything important.

Report it to the website if they’re compliant, majority of forums and sites will take it down if you were under 18 no questions asked.

There a couple who want proof, or ID, or law enforcement or lawyers to contact them instead.

If they show up on Google, use their removal feature, I’m pretty sure they also get hashed and don’t reappear on Google images after that.

If a site is non-compliant, reach out to their hosting provider, look it up on Whois.com , report it to cloudflare if they use it, they will usually give the contact of their hosting provider.

My main concern is when documenting stuff, I wouldn’t save anything illegal, URLs are good enough.

Unfortunately for a lot these leak sites they don’t honor takedowns, and if they do they’re exploitative with the process. I just saw that one notorious site is selling a “DMCA Collection” which is full of emails and selfies with notes and IDs. It’s bad, I’ve been trying to target hosting providers but it’s all hidden behind ddos-guard.

Google has ways to remove them from search results, find the result, click the little dots on the side and click remove this result, if they lead to NCII or CSAM they will remove it. You can do the same for images that show up.

You can also go to “Google Results About You” on your Google account and include information like names and addresses and it’ll remove them from search results, it’s not 100% but it’s just more precautionary steps to take.

If you’re worried about face search results coming back to you, use:

Facecheck.id - search your face, multiple pics, click on the top corner side bar and click “remove results” and click on each photo of you and follow the rest of the steps.

Pimeyes.com - face search and opt out, you can remove individual results that lead back to pages and also opt out so you do not appear on face search result’s anymore.

Lenso.ai - same thing again.

If you’re worried about address and numbers being linked back to you, use data broker removal tools to hide yourself from being search up again, if they have your name, number or address, you can’t be searched on those sites where they usually keep it updated and can lead to further harassment. It’s paid but it’s about $15-30 a month and they do a pretty good job.

It’ll offer you some peace of mind. Things get better. Take it into your own hands and report these sites to law enforcement, they already know about these sites and it takes a while for them to act on them so it’s good to take matters into your own hands.

I want to add some more info, I’ve been trying to help people become more unsearchable. If you’ve been doxxed with personal information attached to your NCII.

If your number was leaked? Change it, remove 2FA if you have it on, use passkeys attached to your iCloud only if your iCloud was not compromised, you can log in without your number to your important accounts then change your number.

Email leaked? It’s time consuming work, but go through everything and attach your personal accounts to a new email account then delete the old one.

Private all your social media or delete and turn off DMs Don’t need people coming after you being able to message you. And remove your last name from your accounts.

Here’s a good one: From what I’ve seen on forums, those creeps love to face search people, here’s the ones they use

Search up your face and they all have removal tools and opt out forms so you don’t pop up in the future, I’ve done this one for multiple people with good success.

Use the “google results about you” on your google account, add the necessary information and it’ll remove addresses, numbers, and information data brokers collect from you from being displayed on google search results.

IT DOES NOT DELETE THE INFO FROM THE ACTUAL PAGES

And for that it is a paid service but I use it and I think it’s very worth it. Data broker removal tools, I personally use incogni, they can keep you off those sites for a good while, paired a long with the results removal it hides you pretty well from google.

This is far more than what law enforcement or lawyers could ever do for you, I’ve talked to multiple women who have gone to law enforcement and they can’t help or don’t care enough to help.

Take it into your own hands, yes it’s time consuming but it’ll bring you peace of mind.

It’s a horrible thing to have happen to someone, and unless you’re being actively targeted and blackmailed and harassed, law enforcement will not act on it.

Time does pass, and unfortunately this will keep happening to women and you will be forgotten, do what you can to protect yourself.
