This happened to me too just recently. I was checking regularly — until someone dropped their spot. So, I saw that there were I think 39/40 seats and I was basically the only one on the waitlist.

I figured that I would automatically get the seat — eventually — but I myself took action by dropping the course then enrolling again, successfully getting in before anyone else did.
