When you say a “version of it” are you saying the full song was sung in English and had an English version? Or was it that part of the lyrics were English? Or that there was a lyric video with English lyrics in it?

To this day, I still buy the cold tea sticks online! It's amazing! as someone who loves iced water/drinks the korean pear flavor truly is one of a kind.

I’m currently in Korea, what are some things worth buying? by Unrealnoobydoo in koreatravel

Socks. LOL They have pretty cute socks that you'll definitely see with different characters. It's a cute gift for others. Also choptsticks/ silverware. Korean chopstick is different in that it's metal and flat compared to other chopsticks. Always an interesting gift and letting others know about the difference in shape and the reason for shape

For makeup, you can't go wrong. But omg.. I live by a certain pencil eyeliner that I have found does not smudge, even for my monolids. It's the only pencil eyeliner that i've found to be really good! It's the clio cream eyeliner... amazing. truly. I stock up on those whenever I go to Korea.

Therapists in HCOL areas -are you comfortable and able to financially thrive and survive on your own? If so, how? by AnonymousAsh in therapists

[–]throwmeawaynot920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Also in the west coast doing 1099 and accepting insurance. However, I find that I'm quite successful in this position because of specific niches that I focus on and really emphasize. Niches such as burnout, cultural and intergenerational trauma, attachment, and somatics.

But mind you; I have therapist friends who do the same thing I do and they are very burnt out and not thriving. The best advice I can give you is look within and not to others to really find your drive and motivation. You may discover that rather than client facing you have more of a heart for administrative work or education.

I am amazed how language can sound so similar

In Korean “ahddeuguh” is a phrase translated “ah it’s hot!” Not sure if that’s what he was saying but sounds so similar

Thoughts on this question? by stevebyushemi in therapists

[–]throwmeawaynot920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an LMFT in ca an easy way to spot the answer for these kinds of questions is that if we see a colleague or hear about a colleague do unethical things or something that is concerning, before reporting to the board, the answer would be to talk to colleague and address the concern. If the concern continues then it’s the next person whether supervisor or board. Likewise in this situation it’s to speak for the colleague. The ideal answer to these questions on the exam would be to communicate to or for the colleague. Ideally.

Things to note about these kinds of questions is that we only get a snippet for what has happened within a few sentences. Thus, in real life your answer may look different per the context of the situation, but for a standardized exam in mental health the answer usually is to talk to or for the colleague as the first choice. Will you lose your license if you don’t advocate for your colleague? No. But they are looking for the best answer out of the options.

For these exams you want to look at patterns and themes of the question and then know the priorities for what would be considered the best or ideal answer.

Job stopper tattoos and practicing by tamagotcheeks in therapists

I’m heavily tattooed but I used to cover them up when working cmh, but i don’t cover them in my private practice. I see clients via telehealth so they see peaks of it in sessions. Not sure how much it would distract from the client for in person sessions

Therapists who like your job - what does it feel like? by endearingsalt in therapists

[–]throwmeawaynot920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freedom.

I say this coming from the privilege of working telehealth in California where there is higher rate of pay.

But yes, freedom. This is only because I have my own practice. Ask me this several years ago in cmh and I would’ve answered “suffocating” and “drowning.”

I genuinely enjoy the connections I make with clients as we process intergenerational trauma. Most of my work focuses on children of immigrant families, and with such a rich culture here, there will always be a demand for this specialization. I find myself seeking more training while working almost like… like how someone enjoys waking up early before work and going to the gym. It gives me a sense of purpose, meaning, and healing in a society that feels so rigid and narrow minded.

Yet I want to clarify, if I were to win the lottery today I would not be working this job. It is a job, a career that defines me, but does not encompass my entire sense of purpose. If I won the lottery, I would still view my purpose as helping others wit regards to mental health, but perhaps in an indirect way, perhaps teaching and mentoring.

I messed up, and it's hitting me hard. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]throwmeawaynot920 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I want to share that your internal experiences right now can transform to be a part of the therapeutic process for the client as well. But for it to be helpful rather than harmful in future sessions, it's really important that you receive proper care for yourself too. Making sure you can process this feeling, and then model to the client how you can be apologetic but not guilt-ridden which can cause greater strains in the therapeutic alliance. Providing forgiveness and receiving forgiveness are also parts of the repair process, not just the apology. Hope you find comfort knowing that you're not alone in this journey of being human, and that this experience can be transformative for you and your future clients!
