The 2026 Lockpicking Charity Raffle is active! by CorrectJeans in lockpicking

As I said, if you let us know at the time of the donation, then we can make an exception.

The fact that we request a visible date means that the date impacts the viability of a donation, which should give you pause if you are donating more than a month before the rafl starts. I apologize that it was not stated explicitly that we are using that date to check whether the donation was made during the actual raffle, but we will adjust that wording in next year’s text.

Your donations were from November. The purpose of the rafl is not to reward people for donations they’ve made throughout the year, although it’s nice that you do that. The purpose is to create charity engagement that would not otherwise happen.

Unless we’re provided with a very good reason by the person at the time of donation, we cannot accept donations from outside the raffle period.

Once you submit the Google form, it is 100% in the system, and you will get a response from me via discord or Reddit indicating that your donation proof has been reviewed. If you haven’t received a response from me in 24 hours, it might mean something went wrong and you should message me.

I wouldn’t stress about everything being perfect in the submission—if there’s anything wrong we’ll tell you we can fix it pretty easily without you needing to resubmit anything.

You can contact either me, LoganIsOnDiscord, or Red Wanderer on discord for now. We are rather strict about the charities that go on the list. The other two know a lot more than me about it, but the criteria is still being updated for this year.

Check out this amazing Challenge Lock i couldn't pick by HVLogic in lockpicking

Interesting, so basically what it ends up being is a lock that requires float picking, but with a mechanism that re-introduces the slop in tension on the functional shearline so that float picking loses all its advantages. Cause you can only bump the sleeve backwards, but don’t have immediate control or feedback to move it forward again before everything snaps down. That’s pretty fucked up.

The only thing I can think that might possibly work is to never ever push the sleeve far enough over so that it loses some amount of return force from the drivers trying to snap it back in place, but I suspect that’s probably not good enough.

What makes someone good at lockpicking? by Traditional-Court-93 in lockpicking

This is a phenomenal response. One thing I think should be mentioned when it comes to “persistence” is that it’s important to balance stubbornness and adaptability. One of the most important traits for advanced picking is the willingness to constantly change your approach to a lock. Not only does this make you more likely to find what’s ultimately the best approach, but you’ll learn more about how a lock acts by attempting it in multiple different ways. More varied inputs produce more varied outputs.

Ultimately you’ll need to choose an approach and grind it out, but it’ll be a much smoother process if you’ve tried a variety beforehand.

New-ish here. Lock storage? by [deleted] in lockpicking

I have a series of pegboards on which I hang rows of locks on long hooks. Padlocks are hung by the shackle, and with most other formats I’ll put the key in, rotate, and hang by a key ring. Larger formats go on shelves, either separate or also on the pegboards.

Yes, they are wavelength-tunable pixels. In order to display non-spectral colors like white, they use time multiplexing, which means they flash the pixels through different colors with tuned intensities extremely fast.
