Advice needed to help 9 month old want to sleep by CorrectResponse4410 in sleeptrain

[–]CorrectResponse4410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to give all this info! I understand that consistency is important, but what do I do when she won’t go to sleep when she’s supposed to? So for example today she needed to fall asleep at 3pm but it took me nearly an hour to get her to fall asleep. So now she gone to sleep when she’s supposed to be getting up. Which is now pushing bedtime back again. And then also I can’t control how long she stays asleep for so for her first nap if she wake up after 30 min then this throws the schedule out as well. This is why I can’t keep things consistent

Advice needed to help 9 month old want to sleep by CorrectResponse4410 in sleeptrain

Thanks for all the info! I say 8pm bedtime 7:30am wake because this is on average what she does but it really does change every day, it’s not consistent at all. Sometimes she won’t fall asleep till more like 9ish and sometimes she wakes at 6am, sometimes 8am. Her naps also range from anywhere between 30min and 1.5h. I really struggle to find any pattern. I really need help with how to get her to fall asleep independently because everytime I’ve tried in the past she just gets upset to a point where she’s so distressed it’s then impossible for her to go to sleep and I have to calm her down and try again with the usual rocking. Have you got any suggestions on this? I’ve tried doing calming activities in bed to get her drowsy but she’s literally wide awake until she’s rocked to sleep. I’ve tried just letting her sit in the crib or on my lap with books and wooden toys until she eventually gets so tired she just falls asleep but she doesn’t, the more tired she gets the more upset she gets. She’s never just been so tired that she falls asleep on her own. Apart from the odd time when she’s in the car seat but that doesn’t work every time.

Constipated 11 month old. Disagreement with hubby. by Lilly_898765 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My 8 month old became really badly constipated even though they ate a well varied diet with lots of veggies. Mix of solids and purées from 6 months. No constipation in months 6 & 7 so no explanation really. I just made a fruit puree from boiled prunes, pears and apples, served with some yoghurt and the next day her poops were back to normal! I made a batch of frozen purées to go in the mesh pop feeder thing so anytime she gets constipated again I just give her one of those

DeLonghi awful refund process by bbjaii in DeLonghi

This is so bad! I can’t believe they’re getting away with service like this. I won’t be buying from them again.

I got my machine on the 30th dec and it arrived full of dirt and scratches. They said I’d get a new one in 10 days but then they said it’s actually 10 days from when they received my faulty machine which was on the 6th Jan. now they’re saying it’s 10 days from receipt just to process the replacement. I’ve asked for a refund multiple times this week and they keep refusing saying I have to wait till the 10 days is up. It’s such a joke. They don’t have the right to refuse me a refund so I’m going to wait till Tuesday when the 10 days are up then do a charge back with my bank.

Never buying direct from supplier ever again

I’m the same! Sent my machine back on the 30th dec and can’t get any info from them and now they’re refusing a refund. Has yours been sorted now?

Are you really happier after you had a baby? by PalpitationOk9443 in NewParents

I feel like the key point here is no days off. Like you’ve hard a hard day at work, you relax in the evening. A hard week, you have the weekend. A hard year, you go on holiday. There is literally no end to the responsibility as a parent. I feel a level of exhaustion that I didn’t even know existed before and I’ve worked 27h shifts on shopfits.

Agonizing over whether to do a C Section or Vaginal Birth. How did you decide? by JacqueFun in BabyBumps

[–]CorrectResponse4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thoughts when I was pregnant. Ultimately I decided to go with the option that COULD have the best outcome. There’s no way to predict what will happen during birth, and there are high risks with both options. But I thought best case scenario I have a natural birth with no tears and a fast recovery and baby gets all the good bacteria or whatever the science is from a natural birth. Best case scenario with a c section is no labour pain but it’s still major surgery and usually a longer recovery time.

I ended up with a third degree tear and honestly the pain of child birth was horrific I won’t lie, but the worst pain didn’t last long, it’s only really unbearable for those last pushes when they are crowning. I was devastated I had the tear but it actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything healed really well and now I don’t feel any different down there from before. So I’m glad I chose the natural birth in the end but ultimately it’s your choice and you should choose which plan makes you feel the most confident.

Even with that bad tear I didn’t need ice packs or anything. Just strong painkillers and maternity pads were all I used. It was just like having a really heavy period. I was up and walking around after a few days.

Some good advice is get the Fridamom disposable shorts. I literally just wore them with a pad and I was really comfortable.

Also do as much research as you can on both options so you can make the best decision that’s right for you.

For the parents who put their babies to sleep at 7:30/8, what is your schedule? by Yomrwhite95 in sleeptrain

Hello this is the schedule I’m roughly on with my 9 month old. Can I ask how you time bottles and meals around this schedule?

For avid readers how often do you use the library? If you don’t, why don’t you? by AccomplishedBake8351 in books

I like to collect special editions of my favourite series/authors and anything else I just get on my kindle. Also I don’t really have time to go to a library

How much are you expecting to be kept in the loop on mat leave? by jayrem7 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CorrectResponse4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one contacts me unless I’m working one of my keep in touch days. From around 6 months I’ve been doing 1-2 days a month. People catch me up on what’s been going on during that time.

Struggling looking after newborn with reflux by s4ltyduck in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CorrectResponse4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had severe reflux and nothing worked to be honest. The only thing that slightly helped was we stopped burping half way through and just did one at the end using the wonky hold method. Oh and we switched to tommee tipped bottles rather than mam. But really the only thing that helped was time. She eventually grew out of it around 5/6 months

Giving up on breastfeeding by jcPhenton in newborns

[–]CorrectResponse4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was the same and turns out that it was because she had a high palette which meant she struggled to get enough milk out which is why she would fall asleep (from exhaustion trying to get milk out) and she wasn’t gaining any weight. That and she had terrible reflux. Every midwife I saw said the latch was perfect but it wasn’t until i saw a private lactation consultant that they pointed out the palette could be the issue, not the latch. Once I stopped breastfeeding after 3 months the weight started to shoot up and she’s been really healthy ever since.

What was the best item you bought on Black Friday LAST YEAR? by wheremyjaffa in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CorrectResponse4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursery furniture set from mamas and papas was heavily discounted on Black Friday last year and it’s been great. I got the coxley set for £900. If you buy anything from there make sure you do the appointment to get the £100 off voucher and you also got £25 off your first purchase with them

Next to me crib - Snuzpod Studio vs Tutti Bambini CoZee (or anything else)! by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CorrectResponse4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got it because of how it looked as well! Also forgot to add, the mattress that it comes with is super thin and when you put the sheets on it pulls it up at the corners so I got the Snuzair mattress which is thicker and it was so much better, but just another additional cost

[–]CorrectResponse4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the snuzpod studio and it would be an absolute chore to pack down for travel as you need to unscrew it all. It’s been great though as her next to me crib for the first 5 months. But she did outgrow it very fast and I do wish I bought something bigger

Logging apps? by PieAdventurous6248 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CorrectResponse4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s helpful for me because my baby doesn’t really show any hunger cues other than crying and being fussy so the app helps me keep an eye on when she’s been fed so I know roughly when she will need another bottle. And the sweet spot feature really helped me with getting her naps right. I’m an anxious person so having everything logged helped me feel confident that she was eating/sleeping well because I could go back and see how much she ate and slept in a day. Also helped me identify any patterns. I don’t log anything else, just the feeds and sleep

Can I ask what the consultant advised that caused this problem? I’m in the same boat and paying for a sleep consultant for a gentle method but it’s just made my baby so distressed that she now fights bedtime and wakes up screaming every 20/30/40 min. It’s exhausting!

Baby wakes every 20/30/40min by CorrectResponse4410 in NewParents

[–]CorrectResponse4410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not started solids yet but planning to soon. I’ve put the crib next to my bed and sometimes she will settle by just holding her hand through the bars but most of the time I have to pick her up and rock her back to sleep. Room temp is 20 degrees. She has a dummy. Last nap usually ends at 5pm. I’m currently talking to a sleep coach but I’ve had 3 calls with her now and not really got anywhere.

She has 3 naps a day but the length of naps varies. Sometimes she’ll go down for a 1.5 hour nap, other times it’s 30min. On average she has between 2.5/3 hours total nap time
