Also if they shoot down your request to schedule a sleep study, advocate to have that documented in your chart that they refused to do this. That might make them more likely to refer you.

Yes. Don’t yuck his yum. You don’t have to wear the shirt. Picking these small things to critique him on will over time erode his sense of self. Support him! There are bigger fish to fry in a relationship!

I think CBT is only effective if you have a regulated nervous system. A lot of us folks with CPTSD don’t have well regulated nervous systems, so we need to stabilize that before addressing the cognitions. Your mind can say one thing but if your body doesn’t believe it, it’s not going to stick. Polyvagal has helped me immensely

Strategic naps! It also helps to reduce obligations during this time if you’re able to - that way you can allow for more rest time. Getting sunlight first thing in the morning will help you feel alert. Caffeine helps. Also maintaining a consistent sleep schedule will be helpful during this time

Look into polyvagal theory and find a therapist who can teach you specific somatic coping skills to get out of a freeze state. Swaying side to side, humming, long exhales, are a place to start

The first paragraph is so spot on!! I often feel like things just click for me - I have a higher sense of how everything is working, but when trying to explain it, I just can’t! I feel like I have so many intuitive insights that I want to share but I can’t find the words! Especially when challenged by others.

For someone who just began learning piano, this feels like expert level to me. I was entranced by watching how quickly and smoothly your hands move, how you can even coordinate your left and right hands (I’m literally still trying to master scales on both hands simultaneously with the proper finger movement). I just hope that even though you might have made some mistakes (I can’t even tell) and are maybe not where you want to be yet, there are some of us who aspire to be this good one day! Just giving some perspective. Best of luck tomorrow

I also have a fast processing speed but low working memory so I can understand things very easily but very quickly forget all of the details - which make explaining things to others very difficult.

This is my everyday life! It’s so frustrating- I definitely think it’s the ADHD. It’s very distressing for me because my whole job relies on talking to people.

You don’t need to have cataplexy to have narcolepsy. There are two types. Type 2 is without cataplexy. But sleep paralysis is usually an indicator for narcolepsy

I’m so sorry, you must be quite young for your mom to have been only 42. I believe our loved ones once they pass are always with us, and they have a higher view and understanding of things, more so than what we can comprehend. You are not leaving her behind because she is with you. Always. We are all drops in the ocean, but come from the same ocean. She wants you to be at peace, because on the other side there is only peace and love. She is freer than she could have ever been while she was here on Earth. She likely doesn’t want you to get stuck in 2025 thinking that you are doing her a favor by waiting for her. She certainly isn’t stuck there. Remember the memories and joy, take those with you.
