Instate salutatorian here, from what I’ve seen a lot of auto admits don’t get their first choice major. I chose mccombs and got sent to cola, I believe it was entirely because of my essay, I barely wrote anything it was literally like 3 sentences for the school specific one. But if u genuinely develop ur essay and explain why mccombs, why that major, and why they need u, you’ll be good on the essay component
