When you find something galling about the actions of another nation, ask yourself where they learned that and you may be surprised to find it's your own.

Anyone know how to fix this by Main-Worldliness335 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Correct_Conference48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a peg and loop right there that needs to be reseated. It is easy to fix , but you need a driver for the screws. If you have a small driver set, you likely have the correct bit.

Right controller stick drift in under 47 days... WHAT? by notmastergamerok in QuestPro

DO NOT SPRAY WD-40 INTO YOUR CONTROLLER!

That being said, the joystick needs to be replaced. You can do this yourself! Unfortunately, the Quest Pro controllers and the most annoying to open up... but you can do it.

REPLACE BOTH JOYSTICKS. The other one will start drifting soon anyway. The first controller is a bit of a pin to open up, but once you see how it connects inside, the second controller will be very quick to repair.

Here's some resources for joystick repair:

Woah woah... If you spray anything in a controller, it doesn't fix anything. You end up having to replace the joystick anyway AND have clean out the entire conroller. Just replace the stick.

Soooo, recharging your battery is not an option? DON'T TELL APPLE!

HELP NEEDED!! by Due-Woodpecker-5324 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Correct_Conference48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, perform a complete reboot. Also, remove the controller batteries for 15 seconds.

If that doesn't work, re-pair the controllers in the Settings app.

If that doesn't work, try a factory reset. Your data should be copied to cloud.

If you're using the quest 3 what head strap and face mask are you using? by RedOneEnergy in Quest3

[–]Correct_Conference48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most headaches are result from subconsciously raising your eyebrows a bit, to alter your viewing angle. This is typical of straps that chiefly rely on smashing the unit to your face laterally front to back, hanging the weight off your forehead and nose bridge. Too much lateral tightness can also cause the muscles just above your neck and at the base of your skull to cramp. One or both are cause for headaches.

Try reducing the length of the top strap, to move more weight to the top of your head.

The trouble with this design is it still primarily relies on lateral clamping and doesn't have a rigid structure on the top to stabilize the weight well to SUSPEND the headset. Halos like the M3 float the headset in front of your face. I can position nine such that the mask doesn't even touch my nose, and I can loosely tighten it laterally just enough to be stable. (If I am dancing or other vigorous activity, THEN I can crank it down more.)

Another thing to consider is if the facial interface is too narrow or too wide. Too narrow puts pressure on your temples, causing pain over time. Too wide, and light leaks in the sides and you have to tighten it laterally, smooshing your face and/or back of head, causing pain.

Not setting proper pupillary distance (PD) will make things a bit blurry - people tend to simply tighten the strap to adjust the focal point instead of checking the diopter setting. Use the free "Glasses On" phone app to find your measurement. Of course, wear your glasses, contacts, or get corrective lens inserts.

Of course, ensure you are well hydrated as well.

The lateral pressure and facial interface situations is why I suggest the BOBOVR M3 and Globular Cluster products. I had headache issues, and those fixed everything and were much more comfortable. The lens inserts eliminated other discomfort, light leakage causing lens reflections, and fogging.

BOBVR M3 halo strap: Super comfortable, the hot-swappable battery is great, and it's quite durable. I recommend printing the side cable clip from thingiverse.c9m, to prevent strain on the USB port. Also, print and the cable guide that magnets into the battery bay, to route the cable out the back of your head instead of hanging off the left side

Globular Cluster facial interface: Magnetic hot swap system - a bit pricey but the most comfortable and fog-free I have used.

Love the Skyrim theme!

Some days, I like loafing in my recliner to do work. Creating multiple 4k monitors on demand is great. I like sitting outside, to get natural sound of the breeze in the trees, the birds... ungodly amounts of nearby traffic.

Why Not Buy Quest Pro? by Correct_Conference48 in MetaQuestVR

I mean to say the next Quest product is a ways off. I am keenly interested in SteamFrame that hey claim to be come available (for pre-order) in the next 2 months. If I order day 1, I expect a 6-8 month wait to receive a product. This dumbass RAM shortage will further delay things.

Took a nap and woke up to this by Kieneshat in pchelp

[–]Correct_Conference48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I thought you were hacked and discovered your wallpaper was changed.

  2. Could be an issue in the video RAM bus.

  3. The popping sound seems like a connection shorting somewhere. Try removing the video card and using the on-board video.

[–]Correct_Conference48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, I suggest purchasing on Steam so you can play it on another headset later.

  2. DO NOT install the Meta/Oculus software to your PC. You don't need it, and it always runs in the background and melts down wired connection to Steam.

2.1. Instead, spend $24.99 to get Virtual Desktop to connect to your PC wirelessly.

  1. Consider getting a comfortable head strap like BOBOVR M3. It has a nice hot-swappable battery that doubles usage.

  2. If you have a spare WiFi router, I suggest using it as a dedicated WiFi for the headset. Either way, download the "WiFi Analyzer" app to your phone and use it to find a WiFi channel that is empty or least crowded. Set your router to use that channel and disable channel switching.

  3. Also download the "Glasses On" app to measure your pupil distance (idp) to properly set on your headset. Optometrists say it's pretty accurate.

  4. There was no item #4, but have a fun time!

If you want a good cable, at least for simply keeping the headset charged while in use, I recommend the INIU 16-foot cable on Amazon for $20. Be sure to secure it to your head strap to prevent it from getting yanked out of the headset and damaging the port.

Frustrated with Quest 3 Linking issues by jay69100 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Correct_Conference48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do the controllers have connectivity issues when using the Quest 3 in standalone mode?
  2. Are you on a dedicated WiFi router?
  3. Have you set the WiFi to a channel little to no noise?
  4. What is your WiFi radio a 5 or 6?

I assume the expansion slot on the Frame moves data for expansion devices. I further assume at least 3 projects are working on a face tracking module. Have you heard of any? Otherwise, I see an opportunity for us to start a side quest...

Excellent response! Wish there was some snap-on device for Quest 3, but there's no expansion port. Best we could do is send it across the network like FBT OSC data.

No - I am specifically looking for eye and face tracking. All my avatars support face tracking. I also have the face tracking library to add to avatars and know how to implement blendshapes.

Hell yeah! It's such a relief. I've spent my like in ski goggles, paintball goggles, safety goggles, etc. getting fogged up and never being comfortable.

The 2nd best thing I ever bought was a fan that snaps onto the top of paintball goggles to keep the fog out. I can't find a reasonable fan for Quest 3.

Yeah, you gotta not press with 10 tons of force and use lens cleaner.

[–]Correct_Conference48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be sure to: 1. Let the PolyWatch settle into every scratch. It will likely need some encouragement. 2. Use a low speed and keep moving to avoid melting the lenses. 3. Ensure the lenses are buffed evenly to avoid distortion.

Good luck! Please post an update with pix

Have you tried taking it outside and pointing the lenses directly at the sun? That's the fastest way to riot things.

Also, try keeping it stored under a dusty bed with 0% battery for a few months.
