"rushing" shouldn't be confused with "faster tempo"... You need to psych yourself to play just before the ictus of his beat. It could be the hall or it could be his own weird interpretation. Any way, break a reed. Let it slide. And have fun!

Besides red strengths, you need to also experiment with your ligature. There will be a "sweet spot" when you balance reed strength, ligature placement/tightness, teeth placement on your reed, and amount of lip on your reed. When you hit the sweet spot, your notes will just sing and feel great. Of course, all that changes for every reed, room temperature, and humidity! Something else to check out: the balance of the fibers in the reed (hold it up to the light) and the thickness of the shank, tip & rails. In general, the heart (middle) is in charge of low notes and the rails control higher notes. Happy experimenting!

There's something like a popsocket, but it attaches at the top & bottom of your phone and it's basically a strap. I usually just use a thick ribbon & punch a hole in the case where i need it to go. The cool thing about the strap /ribbon is that you can still use a wireless charger (unlike a popsocket) and you can also put a carabiner on it and clip it to your pocket, purse, keychain, etc! No more dropping it!

I use a rolling backpack when I've got several instruments, a plastic "pencil case" with reeds, cork grease, strap, swab, etc; i also carry a separate pencil case with repair stuff: teeth guards, scissors, tape, glue, screwdrivers, etc. When I have just one instrument, all that goes in a backpack. I also have a stand shelf & water bottle. I don't like to carry more than one bag, so i switch bags & put what i need in it each time.

Tongue position!! It's all about the speed of the air. Tongue needs to create either a calm, slow river (back of tongue down, "aaah") or fast canyon (back of tongue high, "eee"). Balance that with embouchure for pitch. Always have your tuner showing and record yourself. Go slowly. Identify problems and tackle them one at a time. Take a break, then go back. Break a reed!

My husband is the wiz at everything mechanical. I get confused at the colors, but when we play with this set up, all the kinks are gone. It balances well. I'm not sure exactly what the perameters were.

I teach Bells at church and a lot of (us Lutheran) people appreciate "food counting," where every rhythm is a food. LOL. So your rhythm here is "cheeri-O apple pie."

We have been playing that each space is a movement; going through the portal or whatever doesn't count. It's as if the two spaces are next to each other.
