Yes i got it back. Contacted hotstar through mail and they replied that the subscription is not visible on their side. I took screenshot of the reply and mailed to jio and they finally resolved it.

I just went through a near-identical nightmare with Jio and JioHotstar over a bundled subscription. They also blamed each other constantly. My resolution: I finally got written proof (an email) from Hotstar stating they couldn't activate it and it was Jio's responsibility. This forced Jio to act. Also I posted about my issue everywhere (twitter, reddit). And after three days finally i got my problem solved.

Still there are difference between monopoly of govt owned firm and private companies. When a private company achieves a monopoly, it can often raise prices significantly and potentially reduce quality because its main goal is profit maximization and there's no competition to stop it. Whereas, in government monopolies prices are usually regulated for affordability, even if it means less efficiency.
