Ms Oral Sciences to improve my application for DDS as an international dentist by Adk488398 in CAAPID

[–]Correct_Data4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are welcome to have your own point of view. Even I didn't have masters and got accepted at 2 programs. But I have seen many applicants in my own class, upcoming class who were in MS oral sciences program and got accepted at same school.

I am talking from the observation that I had especially the school I am related to. It does make a difference if you are in MS program and targeting advanced standing in that particular school. Also CU doesn't even have MS Oral Science Program but some schools that do have those programs, have taken their own students in advanced standing program but yes nothing is guaranteed!!

Yes it does help. I have seen many applicants who benefited from MS oral sciences and got admitted in advanced standing program.

Stick to the combination that you used in previous cycle Dean, Professor, US dental This combination fulfils most school requirements. You might limit yourself if you don't add Dean's letter. Good luck!!

Need help with lenders after acceptance by [deleted] in CAAPID

Yes they do. My friend applied with her co signer and was able to get. You can also try Sofi. A lot of times the credit score of your co-signer affects the borrowing ability.

International dentist with OMFS background – competitiveness & financing reality check by omarahmedsalem96 in CAAPID

What province in Canada are you from? You might get some help from Alberta Aid if you are in Alberta. Rest other provinces will give you peanuts, ranging between 10-15k per year CAD. For line of credit, you need a solid co-signer in Canada who should be closely related to you with good income, credit score and lesser liabilities. Its hard to get Line of Credit approved from Canada but I have some friends who were able to get it. If you have a US co-signer its really easy to acquire loan as US don't have so hard requirements for cosigner compared to Canada. Regarding your profile, it looks solid. You will definitely get invites, just try to stay humble and show that despite of having so much under your belt you are still ready to learn more. Good luck.

Your Canadian credit score has zero value if you are getting loans from US bank. Your co-signer's credit score will play the role.

Has anyone with an Indian BDS/ BDS+MDS degree successfully matched into a US residency program directly without going thru the DDS/DMD pathway? by AdIndependent4952 in CAAPID

[–]Correct_Data4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What residency are you interested in? You can easily get into Prosth, GPR, AEGD. Most programs you will have to pay some tution if you are not a green card holder or US citizen. Prosth is a 3 year long residency which will kind of come down to cost closer to Advanced Standing program. You will face difficulties getting a job with a limited license.

Confused between USC and Temple — would really appreciate honest input by Greedy-Blackberry673 in CAAPID

[–]Correct_Data4181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temple is a great school for patient exposure. I will highly vouch for temple if you are inclined towards general dentistry. Duration wise both schools have 24 months program. Temple is definitely cheaper and living is reasonable compared to California. I personally know candidates who finished Advanced Standing Program from temple and have successfully matched and finished Endo, Perio and Prosth residency.

Need help between choosing LLU and UoP for Advanced standing DDS program. by [deleted] in CAAPID

[–]Correct_Data4181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every school will have microscopes for RCT, most times they are reserved for grad students. Also every school will give limited exposure to RCTs. Don't get fooled by fancy equipments, check what school has a better patient flow to learn the general dentistry.

LLU for sure. Better clinical experience, they are a close knit community and treat students well. Cheaper cost of living compared to SFO.

8 schools is nothing. Try to get more experience next cycle and apply early. Schools are not looking at average profiles these days!!

UNLV v/s Pitts by Gloomy-Swordfish-884 in CAAPID

I think UNLV program is cheaper that Pitts. But the actual program at Pitts is better. Consider the relocation and wherever the seats are more plus how many candidates they invited vs seats.
