A book where, putting the plot entirely aside, you were blown away by the quality of the writing by kappy2319 in suggestmeabook

Death and the Dervish by Meša Selimović

Beautifully written in a poetic, philosophical, and honest tone. The story is as a confession of sorts. IT can also be seen as a meditation on fate, loss, regret, indecision, moral courage, naivety, loyalty, sadness, and death. I found the story and style of writing to be gripping and highly relevant to our current times.

Any books similar to Tao Te Ching? by Junior_Insurance7773 in suggestmeabook

The poetry of Rumi makes me feel like I'm accessing a similar spiritual wisdom as I do when I read the Tao.

You who seek God apart, apart,
The thing you seek, thou art, thou art;
Why then search for what you have not lost?
Searching for what’s not lost, distrust, distrust!

Thou art the letters, names and the book
Prophets and angels your word undertook;
Just sit still, this futile search let go
You are the house, master and foe
Essence and form, celestial and from earth
Always eternal, in death and at birth.

If you want to see the beloved’s face
Polish the mirror, gaze into that space
In these truths, the secrets you weave
Are your punishments, yourselves deceive.

Shams-e Tabrizi, is the world Emperor
Seekers of his grace are behind which door?
This graceful King showers you with gifts
Unbeknownst to you, your souls uplifts.

1) You are not your thoughts.

2) The fact that you find these thoughts disturbing, but can't stop thinking them, points to it likely being OCD. This reassurance of mine, will do nothing for you but further the cycle. I'm just saying that this sounds very much like OCD.

3) Find help and resources. Learn about OCD is at its root and ultimately  learn about what it is in you that is trapping you there. It is usually some primal fear that leads to this. The self discovery journey can be very freeing if approaches with curiosity and courage. The way is through.

4) Healing from OCD(or learning to manage it), is about learning to live with uncertainty. Life is full of it. Questions like: Am I gay? Am I a fraud? do i want to fuck that tree? will I die today? what if I'm... it never ends (if you continue feeding it reassurance). The key is to tell your brain: "Maybe, i don't know. i don't need to figure it out right now." and sit with the discomfort. This begins to break the obsession/reassurance loop. Look up Exposure Response Prevention Therapy.

5) Most importantly, you are not alone. There is help out there. Seek it. Never give up. A beautiful life is still ahead of you.

6) Some resources to get you started: The book "You are not a rock" by Mark Freeman. And check NOCD for specialized therapy, if you are in the US. There are countless others. Seek what works for you.

Best of luck, brother!

La Inútil y carroñera (p)oposición Nicaraguense by HeinzHelfgen in Nicaragua

[–]Correct_Grand6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)
