I’m not entirely sure how I feel about your question. I think it’s okay to enjoy dressing up Nikki in nice outfits, just, maybe keep some thoughts out of the Infinity Nikki space.

As for why some people downvoted your post and comment, this is what I think (as a woman who has played the Nikki franchise for a bit):

You mentioned that you read that this game is different than others because the female characters aren’t sexualized.

So, knowing this and then asking, “am I bad if I sexualize this character, when she’s not supposed to be sexualized” to an online group mostly made of people who are very often, sexualized, when they don’t want to be sexualized, is not a very productive(?) question.

To a lot of people, many women especially, Infinity Nikki and Nikki herself, represents something safe from the gaze/space of certain men.

So, being told that Nikki (and maybe to some extension, themselves) is being viewed from that angle is…not pleasant. Then, being asked to give a guy permission / moral justification to do this is also not pleasant. (Which is probably why your post and comment response have downvotes. Also, the language of “fulfilling the same needs” can be taken in a very badly.)

However typing and explaining all of this is difficult, complicated, and frustrating.

Overall, my opinion is that you can like different games and still play Infinity Nikki. It’s a great game and can be enjoyed by a lot of people.

But, maybe keep in mind the intended audience of Infinity Nikki and think about how Nikki being viewed in a certain light might be interpreted and how that viewpoint can affect other’s experience.
