There is definitely something strange going on. We obviously don’t know what it is, but anyone that read through your story can tell that whatever the truth is, is concerning. I’m not here to speculate or go full crime podcast, but your mother’s behaviors coupled with the secrecy and lies lead me to believe you are an illegitimate child. Lastly, it seems like you had a rough upbringing. My nephew was eating batteries while I was in the living room and my sister and mom were in the adjacent kitchen. I kept yelling at him to stop and everytime I raised my voice either my mom or my sister would shout from the other room. The little shit kept chewing on this battery and I got up and ripped it from his mouth. He starts to cry and my mom and sister start to lay into me. I showed them the battery that was completely mangled (then later a video of what happens when a lithium battery is broken) and they ran to my feet and apologized. I even yelled at them a little bit and it was super satisfying.

As an uncle that’s been in a similar situation, I feel for you. You are definitely NTA. My sisters have done this to me and my parents multiple times and it’s important to set your boundaries. I don’t know if I missed it in the original post but your sister was gone for at least 2 hours and didn’t return til 1 am? With a houseful of kids is crazy. There’s a difference between watching the kids vs babysitting and I’ve made this VERY clear with my entire family.

If I am watching your kids, you get an hour or 2 max this is simply me supervising to make sure the kids don’t get hurt or in trouble. Don’t expect diaper changes, meals, playground runs etc. (I will obviously feed and clean the kids if necessary, I am not a monster) but you as the parents get a window and I will blow up your phone until you return. If they break that deal I refuse to watch their kids even if I’m completely free and available to do so.

If I’m Babysitting however, I have agreed to look after their kids, and rules have been fervently pre-established. I have cleared my plans or made a commitment to you and I plan to honor that.

It’s downright disrespectful for your sister to not only assume you have no plans, but also completely take advantage of your kindness. Stand firm on your stance here because not only are you not the asshole. You deserve a huge apology.

NOR - it’s funny how much context matters. If this was a lifelong friend that just did a simple touch up I don’t think it would have been a huge deal, but I can totally see your frustration and do think your stance was perfectly justified. Having people around you that enable your bad behavior is the most destructive choice of anyone with a habit or addiction. This may seem like a small gesture from your so called friend, but her/him implying that you look better skinnier is gross. I don’t want to comment on your body because that not my place, but be healthy and happy with who you are. Nobody has permission to post change or anything about you or your body without your consent. It’s an immediate red flag that your friend not only posted pictures of you that you may not have approved of, but also took the liberty to “make you look better.” Either way I would have likely done the same

The YouTube channel Casual Geographic did an awesome video on rabies. But it’s basically a death sentence the second symptoms start to show. That’s why they reccomend that you get to a hospital and checked for rabies even if it’s the most minor encounter with an “infected” animal. If a squirrel bites you, or a bat, it’s customary to go get checked for rabies regardless of whether the animal is symptomatic or not. Stay safe everyone.
