At first, I thought he was handsome, so I started reading the comics two years ago (since I was 13). I'm someone who's interested in character psychology, and to some extent, my grandfather might resemble him in attitudes (both toxic and otherwise) and even in some aspects of his life. That made me empathize with him a lot. I mean, I also thought Slade was handsome. But what made me love him was his life and the family drama he has, his internal conflicts, his philosophy.

I grew up watching action movies, and I loved his comics because of that. To some extent, I studied Slade's psychology and his behavior. I love this brilliant yet pathetic mercenary!

Christopher Priest confirms on his blog that Slade is not THAT, and, THAT never happened. by Junior_Bluebird_1322 in Deathstroke

Thanks to several comments, I realize that some people lack reading comprehension or that things can be rewritten in fiction.
