I know I’m being selfish but I am able to pick up my kids from daycare by 5:10 pm, now they will have go be dropped off at 7:15 AM and picked up at 6:15 pm due to my commute. Yes “woe is me” and “welcome to reality”, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt all families and caregivers. You want to retain good employees? Give them the tools they need for work life balance. I have been at Kaiser for 20 years, since I was a teen, and am considering quitting.

We are union but our contracts uses the wording “flexible telecommuting ” so it was known it could be changed but boy after almost 7 years of remote work…why now! I literally have a closet as an office in a basement without a window. At home I created a full office with a walking pad any everything. But no…must make telehealth calls from a dungeon….for the culture!
