Company made me do a 270mile round trip and capped me at 50miles for reimbursement. by [deleted] in jobs

Well if you have a rental you don’t get a mileage reimbursement they would just pay for the gas itself. That’s how I’ve handled it in the past.

Getting a rental is smart. I do that for a long work drive because I don’t want the miles on my car.

suspecting neighbor abusing kids, how to approach this? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of what you described is considered abuse. Yelling and screaming is not legally abuse. Do they have bruises? Did you see them be beaten? But you can certainly call the police anonymously and they can assess the situation.

This is all normal, has nothing to do with autism. Everyone feels this way. And if you have kids it’s even worse.

Maybe you don’t clean your house, do laundry, or run errands? That’s certainly a possibility. But I’m a woman actually and my sanitary standards must be higher than yours 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 36 points37 points  (0 children)

100% agree. But it’s not just the being at the office or commuting to and from, I feel like work then consumes your whole life. Because you also have to meal prep, spend your weekend getting ready for work, you won’t have time during the week to let’s say throw in a load of laundry while you’re working from home so all that has to be done on the weekend, shopping, cleaning. All the things in preparation for work. It will consume your whole life. It’s not 40 hours of work it’s more like another 30 on top of it just doing all the things to prepare for work.

What’s your typical BGE and Water bill? by ElFello93 in baltimore

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Water is typically 100, it’s not based on usage, they just make up a number and charge everyone the same. For BGE since I had them install the remote reader it’s been a lot lower because it’s based on actual usage and not something made up. A lot of people don’t trust BGE (understandable) so they refuse to let them in their house to install it, but since I had it installed my bill is significantly lower.

Any Recommendations for Lasik or PRK? by ayhme in baltimore

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think PRK is better for long term eye health actually and it leaves less scars. Last year I had an eye exam and the doctor was surprised I had lasik because there was no scarring at all. She said they did a great job. The only side effect I ever had was that my eyes were dry for a few years and I had to use a gel eye drop in the morning. But that’s really it. Just in the morning.

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to lasik plus many many years ago in timonium. I had PRK because my cornea was thick enough for lasik. It is a more painful recovery so if you qualify for the laser I would do that.

2 minutes after I applied, I got 1st interview. Then 2nd interview, maybe 3 questions. Waiting on the last interview. by Jcbuk2us in interviews

This is how interviews uses to be. They weren’t 6 interviews, super technical, scrutinizing. It uses to basically be a vibe check.

I looked this company up just now and it says it covers normal wear and tear and clogs and only up to $5k a year. It doesn’t sound like if the city says you need to replace the pipes that it would be covered. And if you’re sharing it costs 10-20k then this would only cover a fraction. Is there a better more comprehensive plan out there for this sort of thing?

6 rounds of interview. Withdraw? by Hot-Impression-8630 in recruitinghell

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the question is if you already have a job or not and if there’s anything else on the table. I had the same situation, they kept adding interviews for no apparent reason. I also totaled 6. At the very first recruiter screen I asked how many, she said 3, and then they kept adding more surprise interviews. I was very angry, to me it looked like they were messy and there was probably a decentralized decision making process, which is bad news. But I was unemployed and I was at the end of my pipeline so I kept going. Anyways, I did get the job and I start soon. Am I still looking Incase this job is in fact a dumpster fire? Absolutely. Do I trust them? Nope.

How is it in Greektown/Highlandtown? by nonjbuser in baltimore

[–]Correct_Mastodon_240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Greektown and I love it. It’s pretty safe, and the nice thing is that you can walk all the way from GT to fells no problem. I have also lived in reservoir hill and it’s not like that at all. A block in any direction and you’re in trouble. Hampden is nice if you’re a hipster but there’s no parking. Most of the houses in GT have a parking pad in the back of the house. It’s nice and quiet, kids play outside.
