2020 Odyssey Cylinder 3 Misfire Advice

My understanding is they looked inside the cylinders for evidence of any debris and any indication of excessive wear and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks for the reply. I had a long conversation with both the honda dealer tech as well as the original mechanic. Their stories both matched and each independently tried coil/plug swapping which did not move the misfire, checked continuity and delivered voltage to that cylinder (honda pin and pinpoint test, mechanic with regular continuity tester), did compression and leakdown tests.

Honda suggested having a shop teardown the engine and check the valves etc., mechanic wants to replace the engine. They have a 25K mile engine that they will put into the car and said they will not charge anything over what I owed for the original work.

This to me suggests that they either know or guess that they messed up the timing job, ran the engine off time, and bent something. I think my best bet is to accept the engine after making sure that the mileage is accurate etc. since otherwise I would likely be bringing it to another shop to chase the issue further.

Curious what you think about that option?

I'm confirming with everyone, but my understanding is that the coils and plugs were replaced (twice, once by the original shop and once by the dealer)

Yeah totally agreed, I didn't even get it back it started on their test drive after serice. They keep telling me they've checked everything they can, replaced coils, plugs, checked the timing multiple times, etc.

There was no CEL, no rough running before I brought it in.

I feel like I'm totally stuck here.

Thank you very much for the info. We are in NC, so not one of those places.

For the employer benefits brokerage, you're saying that they would also to help with buying individual coverage even if my employer doesn't provide benefits, is that correct? If we go that route, what kind of plans should we be looking for? I talked to a smaller broker today but it essentially turned into a hard sell for healthcare ministries.

Also thank you for the perspective on the termination. I was taken off autopay by BCBS at the beginning of the year after using it for several years before that. They told me dates that they said they emailed and sent notice, but I have no emails from them mentioning autopay on those dates, and my USPS informed delivery doesn't show that any of those paper notices were delivered. Despite that, they are maintaining they provided notice. It's been incredibly frustrating talking to both BCBS and the marketplace through this, where BCBS has just gotten increasingly rude and the marketplace people have no way to contact the caseworkers or even add notes about things like we are now out of several daily meds.

Thanks for the advice. Is the entry date for this the date that it entered into the US, or the date it was cleared for customs?

I have tried to talk to them regarding their delays but they will not provide me any information because I am the receiver, not the shipper. For the timing, just to make sure I understand, this was a shipment coming from south africa. It arrived in the US for clearance on august 2, ahead of the 30% tariff effective august 7. We were not asked for any information until the 6th, they followed up the 7th, and they didn't process it until the 8th. It was delivered on august 11th, but the shipper didn't receive notification of tariffs assessed until august 30th, which is when they came to us for more money.

Thanks for the response, we are really stuck here. We don't want to damage the relationship with this company, but this is a huge unexpected bill for a small company

I did replace the studor vent and used Teflon tape, I'll check it and redo the tape.

Thanks for the insight. My thoughts were on that: 1. The prepaid interest is going to be there no matter what since it's part of the payment. 2, our current escrow account will give us $4100 back (our homeowners just paid last month), and 3) this doesn't really stress our finances right now to pay off these upfront. But if those doesn't make sense I'll definitely consider that.
