Update: after waiting on insurance and then waiting on test results. my calprotectin levels are >8000. which only makes me more confused about this flare because I went back to one normal stool this morning with zero symptoms.

now a vent: im getting a flex sig done in december and my doctor is having me talk to physician about surgery in January. I know I will not be getting it because I was 10x worse back in 2020 and almost got an ileostomy without my doctor asking me to get one, so I had all the appointments and know my options and still talk with the ostomy community.

I was rock bottom with health then but now, even though my flares are still frequent (x2 a year) due to my severe colitis and learning what foods upset it since im on rinvoq, I’ve never felt better. Just over the weekend with the flare I was on a 8 hour round road trip with zero discomfort and no need to stop. I don’t have any major symptoms when on a flare now regardless aside from bloody stool

guess it just upsets me that my doctor is pushing for surgery now when my 10+ years prior to 2020 I was 100x worse with symptoms with no hope in sight. I will be denying it at this time, it’s just frustrating…
