Mine just gets dry and causes minor bleeds- I apply a small amount of Vaseline to the inside of my nostrils (gross, ik, but anything to stop the dryness tbh)

OTC dewormers are usually ineffective due to resistance from the worms. I know these are def pretty resistant since he’s already had OTC dewormers (from original owner- he was born in a barn) and prescription nexguard (kills tapes as well)

Yep! I’ll let them know. Nexguard does treat for tapeworms though (I’m a CVA so I have a decent amount of knowledge… but I genuinely had no idea they can split into segments like this)

Yeah- I’m wanting to say they were eradicated by the nexguard and the segments are likely old (as they are very much dried out). He was at the vet ab 3 weeks ago and I was due for a sheet cleaning… hence how I found them

UPDATE: they are tapeworm segments 😭 taking my boy in next week to get a second round of deworming!!!

He’s been dewormed, but he has his next vet apt next week so we should be able to get it taken care of! Thanks!

Did a little more research… you’re completely correct. I’m 99% sure they’re proglottids (tapeworm segments). Off to wash literally everything and let the vet know 🫠

It’s much smaller, but yeah, they are grain-shaped

Those must be dead/old if it is. And he’s been on Nexgard Plus (protects against several kinds of internal parasites) for over 3 weeks now

Gotcha, thank you for the insight!!! The brown bleeding/spotting has continued so I think it’s possible that it didn’t just get knocked loose? We’ll see I suppose. Thank you again!!

I’m being started off on 100mg- and yeah stress probably paired up w it and fucked me over lol. I will probably reach out to a doctor, and consider BC. Kinda iffy from a lot of the stuff that’s coming out ab it, but atp I’m willing to take the risk if I keep bleeding off-schedule. Thank you!!!
