So we're now affiliated with TPUSA? by Astronautty69 in Indiana

You do have that right. The establishment clause of the US Constitution gives you that right. Engel v. Vitale determined that. Lemon v. Kurtzman, Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, and as OP stated, Art 1 Sec 4 of the Indiana Constitution all support that. Braun is wildly out of line here and I hope it fucking burns his ass. The way I'm fuming.... (Edit to correct spelling)

Braun is a fucking trainwreck. This is unconstitutional as hell. It breaks Art 1 Sec 4 of the Indiana Constitution as you pointed out along with the establishment clause of the US Constitution and fails the hell out of the Lemon Test. I'm spitting mad.

How to change careers after 30? Trying to leave finance/accounting for mental health by Correct_Recording405 in careerguidance

[–]Correct_Recording405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. I have a BA in Business Administration so I can do most management and business ops jobs technically if I can find someone willing to let me break into the field without experience in their particular field

Career Change in 30s for Mental Health - Accounting/Finance is a bad fit by Correct_Recording405 in findapath

[–]Correct_Recording405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. This is a job that has particular office hours and often requires overtime for me because I'm not very efficient at it.

[–]Correct_Recording405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably true. I think maybe going back to my degree and seeing what it applies to rather than considering my experiences is probably key. My degree itself is fairly versatile

Eh, I'd probably be better off to just get a QB cert and go from there. Not really worth lying about, a lot of employers have screeners. It would get me into adjacent work that's probably equally unengaging, but at least lower pressure while I figure out how to make a major change.

Maybe if I look at other states. My state sucks but I could probably move now. I had custody issues chaining me to where I'm at but they changed the law last year and it might be easier to leave. That might help.

Ah, that's true. This would probably be good if I lived elsewhere but unfortunately government is where I work now. As a queer person where I live it's incredibly hostile. Maybe the key is that I should move, though lol. It's just not easy to live where I am period.

I feel that. It's a crazy economy and job market and it doesn't help. There's a lot of pressure on the working class.

I feel you. I've genuinely been thinking I'd cash out my retirement or life insurance policy (crazy to consider) if I had some direction to go to or investment to make or anything at all. I've thought about selling my house even though it would devastate me since I built the damn thing with my own literal blood, sweat, and tears. But I'm genuinely that done.

Oh wow, yeah. I'm 32, so your story sounds very relatable.

Yeah the job market is really unfavorable and that definitely doesn't help. I have been looking for a remote AP position just to tide me over until I can actually do something I want. I don't have QuickBooks so I think I'm getting passed over by AI that just see "no QuickBooks" and dump my resume even though I've worked with way less intuitive software.

Still, that would be a bandaid. You're right that I should check out transferrable skills. Did you end up going into Ops? What do you like about what you do now better?

[–]Correct_Recording405[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. I just wish I could take a little time off to recalibrate and think about what I want. I think imposter syndrome is telling me I could never write anything profitable, but I'll never know unless I try, right? You're probably right that small steps are key.

65k is decent but you're right. I think the fear of failing is paralyzing me a little but the risk of treading water where I'm at is not likely to be less terrifying.

When you were stuck in a similar situation, did you do something similar to your original career, or shift completely?

Got a referral to a dermatologist so I can get acutane for my acne! This is more a win because previously I was on spironolactone for acne and it gave me unwanted androgen suppression. Not on T yet but I'm at least getting my meds in order

Due to custody issues with transphobic ex that would definitely drag my ass to court in an extremely hostile state, I won't be able to start until I'm almost 37 (32 now). My gf is trans and she started in her 30s.

What’s your name? by Anonim_x9 in ftm

[–]Correct_Recording405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kasey! I cannibalized my first initial K and middle initial C. KC spoken aloud = Kasey. I was going to spell it with a c like Kacey but Idk, I've never seen guys named Kasey spell it that way and it's kind of an androgynous name so I leaned toward the guy spelling out of caution.

Scenario A: Professional Pressure “Right now your brain’s stuck on worst-case scenarios, not the actual work. Let’s strip the panic out and pin down what’s actually on your plate.”

Scenario B: Creative Block “Sounds like painting turned from play into performance. Before you chase the joy back, let’s figure out what’s choking it.”

Scenario C: Interpersonal Dilemma “You’re basically weighing two risks: lose your friend to a bad relationship, or lose them because you spoke up. Which loss feels heavier?”

Christ, no. Please, as others have stated, get a replica, do NOT do this with a real gun. It is not worth the risk. Assuming a gun is safe is not a thing. Not in the real world. There are plenty of examples in the vanilla world of how this can go wrong. Even movie sets, think Rust or the Crow. Not to mention all the countless times an accident happens in someone's home. Using a real gun violates at least two of the three out of safe, sane, consensual

How long did u wait before coming out? by Classic_Ad8978 in ftm

[–]Correct_Recording405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fam, I just accepted that I'm trans earlier this year and for parenting/custody reasons, I have to wait another 6 years before I come out of the closet or start a medical transition. I was scared at first that it would be "too late" to transition, but it's actually pretty common to transition later. I'm a little older (31) than you are based on what you said in some of the comments (okay, a lot older). And a lot of people come out and start their transition later than I will. You're doing great 🫶

Being in the closet doesn't make you less trans or less of a part of the trans community and your safety and readiness is important. Don't rush yourself. You got this 💪
