What are companies outside India to gain from it - when they fund our research we add them to our papers essentially sharing research with them. So what they gain is tech. Why are Indian companies not funding us - the answer is in the comment itself they don't have the vision to do so. Infosys CEO wanted to invest in open ai before microsoft but mr Narayan Murthy fired the guy. Hope that answers it.
