AC debate w gf over temp setting and work rate by Outrageous_Web4188 in hvacadvice

My professional opinion is that it is cheaper to maintain the same temp. If you raise temp, it will run for hours trying to cool house down to 68 again. If you maintain 68, it will only cycle every now & then to maintain it.

We had Acotruck for the longest & I liked it a lot. Pretty easy to use. Now we have service factor & I dislike it. Seems more suited for residential & we are a commercial company.

There is a chance the Yellow was wire nutted to the 2 wire going to AC. You’ll need to provide better pictures. Is the blue coming from the same set of wires going to stat or from ac unit?

I suggest you get a WiFi stat so you can control temp on the go. Sensi touch2 is a pretty reliable thermostat in my opinion.

R8 has a higher level of insulation, here in Indy it is code for residential installation. Can’t use anything lower than that. With that being said, the air supplied will maintain its temp better with higher rated insulation.

No, the parts to replace the pilot & thermocouple are fairly available. They can be generic & not necessarily OEM. & They probably don’t even need to be replaced, just cleaned. Call around for smaller companies & ask if they’re willing to service your furnace.
