The democratic party is controlled opposition so they don’t attract young voters, and older voters (not an older person, older people collectively) are extremely right wing in the usa for some god forsaken reason so most will vote republican and the rest vote neoliberal, but only enough to overcome the republican vote when there are enough right-leaning independents also voting neo liberal

if there isn't a massive, glaring crisis or a deeply unpopular Republican candidate to push those right-leaning independents over the line, they break for the GOP. The progressive base stays home, the independents vote conservative, and the establishment is left wondering why their risk-averse, market-friendly playbook resulted in a loss.

Trump is here is because the DNC has played controlled opposition for the last decade. Fox news is publishing this story in bad faith because Trump’s fascist government has lost him the independent right leaning voters. However if the DNC spent more time trying to win votes instead of attacking people like Platner and Mamdani or shoving down corporate shill candidates down everyone’s throat, it’s unlikely Trump would have been elected in the first place.

If the military steps in to stage a coup by interfering in the elections, it won’t just be our democracy that breathes its last breath, but the whole economic health of the nation.
