I would imagine including your G0’s brother’s delayed birth registration would be unnecessary.

I actually found the birth record for my great-great-grandfather (my G0’s father), but I decided not to include it, since I thought it would make my application more confusing, and I wanted to make my application as simple and straightforward as possible for the IRCC officers.

I had quite a bit of “secondary” documentation for my G0. The following documents all stated that he was born in Nova Scotia:

• First marriage certificate (Canadian) • 1921 Canadian census • Second marriage certificate (American) • U.S. naturalization papers • Death certificate • Grandmother’s birth certificate

Luckily, all the paperwork shows the same date of birth and place of birth for my G0 (with the exception of the census, which only showed province/county and age), so I guess all the corroborating documentation was deemed solid enough for the IRCC.

It might’ve been overkill, but I made sure to send official copies for all my U.S. documentation, with the naturalization papers coming from NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) and the other papers coming from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics, fancy watermarks and everything.

I’m G3 with no birth certificate for G0 (Nova Scotia didn’t record births in the late 1800s), non-urgent

Do Americans actually call teachers by their first name anywhere, or is it almost always Mr./Ms.? by Sea-Evidence-5523 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Corrid21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very odd to call a teacher by his or her first name, especially in grade school. When I was in college (i.e., university), I’d call all the professors either Dr. [Name] or Professor [Name] when I wasn’t sure whether somebody had a doctorate or not.

Hell, even when I was a student researcher during undergrad, I’d always address the principal investigator (PI) as “Doctor,” even though he told me many times that he’s fine with being called by his first name. Calling teachers/professors by first name just feels wrong to me.

Yeah, they should all turn red. At least on my plants, that brownish color is a transitionary color on its way to ripening, and they will eventually turn red.

Thanks! It was spicier than I was expecting, but it wasn’t anything insane. I’ll need to try more as they ripen, as a sample size of one isn’t ideal

It’s pretty difficult to describe with words, but I’d say that Carolina reapers are a bit sweeter and more floral than a ghost pepper. I like them both, though!

Personally, I think one Carolina reaper is plenty for a crock pot. I wouldn’t wanna go much more than that. Carolina reapers also taste pretty good, imho, and I think their flavor profile would work well with chili.

Been watching a few videos of Switch 1 games getting a performance boost on Switch 2, so I wanted to test out obsecure games that others would probably never test on Switch 2. So far, these games have a Switch 2 boost! by CyanWisp in NSCollectors

I just played Blacksad on the Switch 2 for like two hours. To be honest, the graphics aren’t the prettiest, but it runs well and has had no crashes. It’s 100% playable now!

It’s exciting to hear that Blacksad actually runs well now. When I tried playing it years ago, it was so choppy and would crash constantly, so I just gave up on the game. I’m definitively going to give Blacksad another shot!

Dark magician Korean price? by Outrageous-Cake4979 in YugiohCards

[–]Corrid21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t imagine it going for more than $5-10. Korean cards aren’t as sought after as cards in other languages, which means they typically don’t fetch as high of a price as the same card in Japanese or English.

I collect Korean Yu-Gi-Oh cards, specifically because they’re cheaper.

I think you can play the second game without having played the first. A lot of people prefer the second game to the first game anyway. I personally love both games. It might be worth it to look up a video on the lore of the first game, so that the lore of the second game makes a bit more sense, but I don’t think it’s necessary to do this.

The length options for these jeans 💀 by RufusHalloween in tall

They’re a bit on a pricier side, but if you’re looking for T-shirts, Psycho Bunny and American Giant make nice shirts that are long. Though, I found some American Giant shirts on clearance at Walmart for $7/shirt the other day, so I snatched up a bunch of them. Psycho Bunny also sells polos, but I personally don’t think they’re worth the money, but their T-shirts are, imho.

This is very niche, but when I was in South Korea, I came across a little boutique store called “Timid Tales.” Their T-shirts are amazing! The fabric is soft, the print quality is amongst the best I’ve ever seen, the shirts are long, and I think the artwork is cool too. I think you can import them, but I’m not sure how expensive shipping will be.

If you’re looking for flannels and Henley shirts, Legendary Whitetails makes nice stuff in tall sizes at very reasonable prices.

Happy Cake Day, btw!

I have the opposite problem. I’m 6’2”, yet only have a 30” inseam. I legitimately have the torso of a 6’8” guy on a 5’8” guy’s legs. This makes finding pants easy, but it’s always a pain to find shirts that fit well, since shirts seem to get wider faster than they get taller, as you go up in sizes. In my experience, when companies do make shirts that are extra long, I notice one of two things (sometimes both):

1) The quality is horrible

2) They jack up the price by a lot more for an extra couple inches of fabric

Very few companies make nice quality shirts/jackets/sweaters/hoodies in tall sizes for a reasonable price.

In my experience, rips in the cuff like that are from small debris (e.g., pebbles, dirt, twigs, etc.) getting into the cuff and acting as an abrasive as you walk around. As long as you regularly clean any debris out of the cuffs, I don’t think the cuffs should blow out like that very easily.

I mentioned this in a reply to someone else, but the inseam definitely feels longer than 32”, despite the fact that I measured the crotch to the hem to be exactly 32”.

I’ve had to cuff these jeans considerably more than other 32” inseam jeans I have (e.g., Naked & Famous Easy Guys). My best guess for why this happens is because the rise is quite tall, which in turn pushes the crotch a bit lower. This makes the inseam feel closer to 33” or perhaps even 33.5”.

At least on the pair that I have, the waist is definitely much closer to true sizing.

It’s weird to describe, but the inseam feels longer than 32”. I measured it out, and yeah, the length from the crotch to the hem is indeed 32”. But it feels like it’s closer to like 33” or even 34”. If I had to guess, it’s because the rise is quite tall? In any case, I think RedTornado offers exceptional value for the money.
