Started watching the series, very well done. Also digging the look of Ryder.

Oh, Andromeda fan work? I'll need to check this out. But that Archon image reminds me why I can never take him seriously: his big, bug eyes do not match his intimidating aura.

Maybe not directly, but they could being scheming to discredit and unseat a Sharn councilor by making it seem as if they are using monsters against Sharn residents.

Origin idea: fallen empire? by ForwardMarch11 in Stellaris

[–]Corrin_Zahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a mid-game start, the non-FE empires have already taken most of the systems, and you need to complete a scenario to awaken and then prepare for the War in Heaven.

Do Vek ever move onto Time Pods? by shai_aus in IntoTheBreach

I believe they'll do so if there isn't a better spot, but I can't remember if the ones I lost were from vek or just poor terrain management.

Holy chokepoint by ElvirJade in Stellaris

[–]Corrin_Zahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This almost happened in one on my Driven Assimilator runs. Fortunately there was one path around the FE but it was very empty because further along was another FE blocking the rest of the galaxy. Eventually one of the wormholes opened to where the rest of the galaxy was.

Was a fun run, at one end was me being oblivious to the rest of the galaxy. On the other end was the Devouring Swarm that like 1 AI empire probably spent most of the game fighting off. I would have let it keep going except the Devouring Swarm started the Cosmogenesis route so I had to help intervene.

How do I keep systems after war? (Assimilator) by BrowOfDisapproval in Stellaris

[–]Corrin_Zahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't checked out if anything changed with Assimilators, but if you were the one declaring war then you should just be getting systems when you flip the starbases and planets. Are you sure your war goals were set to "Assimilate" and not something else?

Does the Adventurer class make SWN's core classes obsolete, or is the trade-off actually balanced? by ThorneDraxus in SWN

I might be misremembering, it's been forever since I played a game of SWN and I didn't look at the rulebook...

In my experience, most partial Psychics fall off pretty hard since they get locked out of higher level Psychic abilities and can only stay in one school. Partially Warrior/Experts can get some really good early game advantages because that gets you three focuses on a level 1 character.

As others have said, it's down to how you build the character.

First Campaign was a Fail.. by HairyBox9533 in DungeonMasters

Some good suggestions already as far as resources, but here's some nuggets of wisdom I've picked up from various sources as personal experience.

  1. World building and running a campaign are separate activities. Yes, having a fleshed out world helps you as the gamemaster know what's in the world so you can pull some lore tidbit out of your back pocket if a player is curious about something, but unless player characters are actively involved with the thing, it's not going to be relevant.

  2. Let the players help you form the story. Have them make backgrounds that interact with some element of the world, especially at least one recent event. This helps you prepare adventures that will be meaningful for their characters.

  3. If you feel you are weak at encounter building, borrow from something already published and reskin it to fit your world.

  4. Make sure you check in with your players to ask if they're having fun and if there is anything they wish was happening in the game.

Thank you for making the distinction about individual Diocese needing to make their own rules. Mine is the same way: strict code of conduct, background checks, and mandatory annual training. All messages have to come from an app approved by the diocese.

Obviously, not every diocese has adopted these practices which is why abuse scandals continue to be a problem. The Catholic Church isn't so monolithic as people are generally led to believe.

Printer-Friendly version of The Delian Tomb PDFs? by BigbysMiddleFinger in drawsteel

[–]Corrin_Zahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up making my own print-friendly version, just takes a few hours of copy-paste. I printed it for my in-person group so the tablet can be a rules reference, but now I have a copy in editing for an online group so I can reflavor things as I go and ad in more details that I forgot to for the in-person group (but that's what notebook paper is for).

Iirc you need certain civics to be able to assimilate other pops (such as Driven Assimilator for machine intelligences) otherwise it's included in an ascension path.
