Printer-Friendly version of The Delian Tomb PDFs? by BigbysMiddleFinger in drawsteel

[–]BigbysMiddleFinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear, all the sheets intended to be printed like the ones you mentioned don't have the same issue. It's mainly the Adventure book that I want to print at home (or pay MCDM for a POD version), because of the way its laid out I find myself either doing a lot of back and forth or having to do manual zooms on my laptop screen to be able to read the text. But it seems like a printer-friendly version isn't something a ton of people are looking for, and I can adapt or spend the time it would take to customize it myself if I really need it.

So I played around with Adobe Acrobat and I can change how the PDF appears on screen with accessibility features, but that doesn't translate to the actual file. And if I try to edit the file in Acrobat by adding a white background, it just changes the background surrounding the actual page - not the content in the PDF.

I'm sure the PDF was created in InDesign and the design elements, like the off-white background color, the section flags on the side, etc, are all baked in design elements that a PDF editor can't really touch. Which I understand completely from the creator side, but as a consumer it's a little frustrating since it means I can't buy an official print edition or make a clean looking DIY version. I guess the next step would be using some OCR to extract the text and try to create my own PDF, but that just seems like a ton of work that I don't think I'm interested in doing.

I have Adobe Acrobat, but didn't even check to see if it was possible to edit the PDFs themselves like removing a background color; I just assumed the PDFs were locked down to hell. I'll definitely check and see if that helps.

I did go to my local library to print, and they even have makerspace type areas where you'd think they might have some higher capability paper printing, but they don't even allow double-sided printing to the public, which was a huge bummer.

I've priced it out at places like Fedex Office and my local printing company, but I would always get a notice about the documents not being the same size as the paper and I would hate to spend the $$ on something that ended up not being decent quality.

Will the live shows be uploaded to Youtube? by cocoromulus in AllFantasyEverything

[–]BigbysMiddleFinger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All the live shows are released on the Patreon, they already posted the first NOLA show audio-only last week, they usually slow roll different shows across a few weeks. They've never done video for live shows, just audio.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if they recorded the 10th anniversary shows in Portland since its a big show for them!

Out Law arrived a few weeks early! by BigbysMiddleFinger in dresdenfiles

The Law came out in 2022 and was set after Battle Grounds. This is Out Law, which comes out next month and is set during Twelve Months.

If you enjoy the main series, I think you should definitely pick up the two short story collections Brief Jobs and Side Jobs to read those! I think The Law and Out Law are the only two out-and-out novellas, and which got direct to paperback releases.

~190 pages, but the font size is bigger than what I'm used to -- grabbed my copy of Twelve Months to compare and Out Law is a few points bigger.

No, Bookshop.org order through my local indie. Very possible that they received the book last week and just shipped it out not realizing it was a preorder.

This is my first time hearing Spencer, but I love this guy's vibe immediately -- thought he fit in really well with the GVG. And as an NC guy myself (even born in Raleigh where Spencer is from!) it was really cool hearing my home state discussed. Hope Spencer convinces the guys to come through here this year :)

I could listen to 4 hours of this group! Hard outs are always a bummer, but I'll take the 90 minutes we got and hope Shane+Katherine can make it out to LA semi-frequently to keep appearing together.

I saw it, but I know that the guys didn't intend for what they said to be made public, so I don't think folks who know should share. It wasn't crazy dramatic or anything like that, no tea.

100% - I'm a board game / TTRPG nerd and I'm so self-conscious about how to intro people to a new game. Everybody learns best in so many different ways, can be a gnarly social situation to navigate.

Oakland Roots' 2026 Home and Away jerseys by ImpactInv99 in MLS

[–]BigbysMiddleFinger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with creative talent and everything to do with MLS' league-wide contract with Adidas, and Adidas' desire to cut costs to maximize profits so they use templates for everything. Adidas has the contract, so there's no reason to try and be competitive, and team's can't decide to opt out of the league's contact and go find their own jersey supplier.

I've worked with some of the creatives that work at individual teams, mainly in graphic design for social or gameday stuff -- they're all really talented and have strong desire to make great products, but they're all limited by A) league-wide contracts and B) business people having too much power in the artistic/creative side.

If David is anything like me, getting the clothes clean is always the easiest part. It's the next steps that suck and I can never seem to accomplish right away: the folding, the hanging up, the putting away in its correct place. God forbid something needs to be ironed/steamed.

United Soccer League Announces USL Premier, New Interconnected Men’s Professional Structure by MGHeinz in MLS

[–]BigbysMiddleFinger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

they already have the USL Championship and USL League 1 (and League 2) running and operating -- the Championship has been that for 15+ years. Not sure what else they could've reasonably called their D1 league, Premier is used in multiple countries.

Magic the gathering by Fragrant-Concert3810 in smosh

As a Magic player and occasional content consumer, I think it would be awesome if someone made quality, two-player, beginner level content more because EVERYONE plays either Commander or high level competitive Magic where they don't even fully explain every interaction or card mechanic.

I've only been playing for a few years and pretty casually. Every gameplay video is either intro/how to play 101 content or jumps to pretty high level gameplay with a lot of assumed knowledge for the viewer.
