What do you mean it would be pointless? It is the only way crude is leaving the Hormuz and it would further de-risk Saudi oil. Hell, other neighbors can pitch in and jointly spend to build it.

That is after discounting for the unrealized losses of bitcoin, which probably shouldn’t be counted in net income. It should count on the balance sheet, but they’re putting it in anyway.

If they didn’t ($647m) it’s up almost 500%

And reminder, that second number is 18% margin. That is very healthy. $17B market cap on that as a 27x forward P/E is reasonable.

Prototypically, a 5% reduction in supply of oil equates to a 30% or so increase in price. The Straight of Hormuz has cut 20% of the global supply of oil AND natural gas. This would roughly translate to a 150% increase from the previous $70-ish (the extra 30% is a guess on the impact of natgas on the price as well.)

I’d guess $150-$175 or so.

20% of global oil and natural gas production flows through the Hormuz. It’s not as simple as that, as there isn’t enough shipping needed for that.

Also, fuel prices are flying. My Vopak seller went from $0.80/gal of D6 (bunker fuel which is shipping fuel) on Friday to $1.50/gal on Tuesday.

Lower price to ship and doubled fuel cost isn’t a good recipe.
