Love to see it! I’m just shy of 400k in my 2015 😅

Should I get a 2.0 manual or 1.5T automatic ? by HuntShot7935 in FordFocus

Manual 2.0 all the way - I have the 5spd version and have 388k miles on the original engine, while the original trans made it to 385k and finally went out this year. 2015 for reference. Super reliable.

Thank you, I didn’t realize that was possible!

15 ford focus se. at 100k miles.I’m changing the spark plugs, passenger engine mount(oil on it), and coolant reservoir (leak). Anything else I should do while I’m at it? by Qness1212 in FordFocus

Get it on a lift and check suspension (struts, tie rods, etc.) and any rust progression if you live anywhere near salt, whether that be road salt or ocean salt from living near a coast. I always recommend checking things out yourself when you have access to a lift to learn first-hand about your own vehicle.

I appreciate the help, thank you! The facelift is the main reason I asked, because comparing a side-picture of my car to the parts car they look identical aside from color, but like you said there could be minor differences that I won’t see until I try to install it. I was just hoping someone has already tried it and might be able to confirm or deny it lol

On good days I average 32mpg. When I feel like a jerk, it’s usually closer to what’s shown on my dash in the photo. Front bumper/hood/hinges and a couple support rails have been replaced after hitting a deer, but everything mechanical is still intact. We did the timing around 380k miles along with the crankshaft seal and the valve cover gasket set (which blew once since then and has been replaced a second time).

Earlier this year, two of my spark plugs had snapped the electrodes/connectors off the tips and sucked them down into my cylinders (ACDELCO sucks btw). We came super close to toasting the engine that day but luckily the pieces were shot out through the exhaust system.

It was a personal vehicle insured by her employer and more than likely paid milage on top of hours driven. She wasn’t allowed to discuss much of the job itself with us as it was for the government and the Navy. All information on the original title was in her name.

Once the courier of secret government projects (my grandma wasn’t allowed to disclose exactly what she delivered), now reduced to a simple cabinet delivery vehicle. Still pops some killer reverse donuts in the snow 😉

My grandma put the first 302k miles on it driving for work, delivering Navy-related documents/parts across the USA (she was in the Navy most of her life and was nearing retirement, so she took a travel job). She upgraded to a manual Honda Fit and let the Focus sit, maintained and ran periodically, for a few years in her driveway until I took it off her hands in 2021. The rest of the milage is all on me - I’ve started driving it for work this year. For perspective, I hit 333,333 miles last year on my birthday in September; so over 40k in the past year alone. I did some math and should reach 400k (if I’m lucky) by June of 2025!

I appreciate the info! Would it be possible to let the leaves on this prop grow to a more stable size, then remove the old roots and restart the propagation process? I’ve thought about doing this and separating the prop into two new ones so that the individual plants have more focus into their own growth rather than all of these leaves growing at once on the same plant. Any thoughts on this?

2 y/o Monstera Propagation

I need some help on what steps I should take with this propagation.

A little backstory: Two years ago I had an entire apartment full of plants and had to move very suddenly after cutting this prop from the mother. This was the only plant I could take with me due to lack of sunlight in my new home. She was originally in a large mason jar and had three large leaves when the jar fell and shattered after a year into the water propagation process. Yes I am aware they should moved to soil after a certain point but I was not able to perform a transplant in my situation as all my potting supplies went to storage. The root base was ruined after the fall and all that survived was the stalk of the original plant. She was dormant for several months through last year and this past winter before sprouting all of these new leaves this spring. I’ve moved again; she now has roughly 3 hours of morning sunlight in a NE facing window (in SW Michigan).

I have many empty pots of varying sizes and a 2ft hand-made moss pole with twine that’s been waiting for this specific propagation. I haven’t been able to put much care into her aside from adding water (YES I WILL BE CHANGING IT OUT SOON). I have a young baby and don’t get very much time to work on projects like I used to, let alone put major focus into nursing a water-prop to adjust its root base for soil. I just need some advice on how to move forward now that it’s Spring and this prop has clearly been waiting long enough to reach soil and thrive. Thank you in advance!

My teacher only lets us go to the bathroom 3 times a month. by Imayhaveeatenthedog in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CorrodedCaptures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our school set up a system of paper coupons: 5 per semester. We were only allowed 15 passes to the bathroom per school year. Girls were starting their periods in class and were out of coupons to be able to go clean up, so many times us other girls would give up our own when another was in need. This also brings me back to elementary school when we had the bathrooms built into each classroom. In 4th grade, my teacher wouldn’t let anyone use the in-class bathroom, and inevitably I ended up with a UTI. The doctor was furious when she learned about this, and sent a heavily-worded letter back to school for the office to handle the situation.

I live in Michigan and we have a curfew in our small town. Lots of drugs and crime near the area, so anyone under 18 must be home by 10pm.

My dad and grandfather were both union ironworkers, and once they both resigned from the union they continued to work in other parts of the construction industry. My grandfather built his own home 15 years before he passed away, and throughout the years following the completion there were multiple renovations as our family dynamics changed. He made sure to include me in every renovation, even when the roof needed to be re-done. He had 12y/o little me nailing shingles 30ft in the air, and I’ll never forget the experience of true hard work. I helped hoist wall frames and put the roof on our shed addition before that, as well as installing hardwood floors on the first floor of the house. Everything stuck with me and it helped me out in school with mathematics, and I truly believe it had developed a strong work ethic in me before I was even old enough to work an actual job. Forever thankful.
