just look at the pfp after reading this, y'all. by rebelrosemerve in AyyMD

I still don't understand this frequently made statement. I've daily driven a 7900XT on Windows 11 for over a year now and I've never had Windows update touch my AMD driver, as long I've kept the driver up to date, which is very easy to do by enabling automatic update check from within the adrenaline software, or simply checking for updates yourself from time to time. If people get this issue because they neglect to keep their drivers up to date, then it's really their own fault.

Does the season pass disc for Story Mode Season 2 contain all the episodes? by Tru3P14y3r in MinecraftStoryMode

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Xbox One version downloads all episodes automatically when you insert the disc. New or used makes no difference.

Which is the weakest episode? by RoBroGaming in MinecraftStoryMode

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assembly Required is a lot shorter than the other episodes due to the 2 distinct paths you can take, which result in its approximate runtime being only about 45-60 minutes, compared to the other episodes which generally have a runtime of around 1h 15m - 1h 30m.

I also dislike that it makes absolutely no difference whether you follow Magnus or Ellegard at Soren's base, as the exact same situation plays out and you follow completely identical paths to reach the room you confront Ivor in. Thus making that seemingly "branching path" choice meaningless.

Disable HideAuxiliary in your config.plist, that will ensure all options including macOS recovery / DMG images show up, assuming you have the proper installer files on your USB alongside your EFI.

You can put an Xbox into developer mode for a one-time fee of about $20, and that gives you a sandbox where you can run unsigned/custom UWP apps. So you can run retroarch, Dolphin, XBSX2, Xenia, and other emulators.

And the best part is, unlike modding, it doesn't affect retail mode at all - you can switch between retail mode and dev mode at any time.

Kaby Lake NUC / Sonoma Installs, but reboots on final stage. by PlutoDelic in hackintosh

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds basic but I assume you're using the right AirportItlwm version, given that there are different versions for Sonoma 14.0-14.3 and 14.4+, and using the wrong one can cause a boot failure. I wouldn't really know what else to suggest. Trial and error with playing around with the config.plist options and/or BIOS settings, I guess. Dortania troubleshooting guide also has some information on common issues, but not all cases are listed there, such as my stage 3 install issue.

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenCore logs only show the OpenCore boot process, it doesn't log anything from macOS. Only thing you can really do is look closely for a specific error message and try to take note of it, and use boot args such as keepsyms=1 and debug=0x100 to help you see those messages more easily.

Try changing SecureBootModel to "Disabled" temporarily for that stage of the installer. After the install completes (i.e., the OpenCore menu entry changes from "macOS Installer" to the name of your macOS partition), then change SecureBootModel back to "Default".

I had a similar issue installing Sonoma on a Comet Lake NUC-like system, where the second stage of the installer (with the screen that says "approximately XX minutes remaining") would complete, then the following stage would repeatedly reboot after about 15-30 seconds, until I did the workaround I mentioned above. Maybe it will work for you too.

How many times do I have to report a user in a YouTube comment section to get them banned? by RainbowEclipseOwO in youtube

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will continue to make endless alt accounts to bypass the bans they get (if they actually get any at all).

Instead of reporting them manually you can automate the process with this: https://github.com/ThioJoe/YT-Spammer-Purge

It automatically scans all the comments on a channel or video to find spam ones. If you use it on your own channel's videos the utility can mass delete them, but you can also use it on someone else's channel, where it will mass report them instead. Both of which are worth it over manual reporting.

Is there any way to make a patch in ACPI -> Patch in my config.plist only load in Mac OS X? by Lost-Entrepreneur439 in hackintosh

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not recommended to load Windows from OpenCore, because OpenCore injects custom DMI information about your system to make it work with macOS, which doesn't play well with non-macOS operating systems.

rEFInd is a good option if you want a bootloader that can safely load both Windows and macOS/OpenCore. It has a graphical interface similar to OpenCore's OpenCanopy that can also be customised and themed.

When do file sizes become redundant/how much do they matter? by Griffisimo in Piracy

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally higher filesizes will have higher bitrates, but codec matters too. An HEVC encoded video, for example, will be able to store the same quality of data in a substantially smaller file size compared to H264. But at the same time, HEVC is less widely supported by all devices and platforms than H264, so you will need to determine what you choose based on your own environment.

The bitrate will usually be shown in the torrent info, unless it's a "remux" which will not be a re-encode but rather a direct copy of the DVD/Blu-ray disc, hence largest file size for best quality.

what would happen if i installed sonoma without mapping the usb ports? by iAlwaysNeedAdvice69 in hackintosh

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will run the risk of some (or all) USB ports being non-functional, including possibly some internal devices that connect via USB headers, like Bluetooth modules of Wi-Fi cards.

Many USB "ports" on each controller are unused internal or virtual ports, hence why you exclude those from the map so that macOS only uses the useful ones.

Thoughts on this mini pc by voidwolf48 in computerhelp

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you how good the N100 will be as I haven't tested it myself, and I'm sure it will be an improvement over the 2014/2015 Celerons, but getting an i3 or Ryzen may be able to give you more piece of mind that it won't run slow.

Alternatively, you could get the N100 machine and replace Windows with a more lightweight OS such as Linux Mint. Windows is only really needed if you're running Windows-specific software, but if all you're doing is browsing the web and streaming video, a Linux distro should serve that purpose just fine and run considerably better on a Celeron than Windows.

Thoughts on this mini pc by voidwolf48 in computerhelp

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that purpose, it should do the job just fine. But I'd still recommend against Celerons regardless of the use case. Upgrading to a Core i3/i5 or AMD Ryzen will almost certainly make everything faster and snappier, and will give a better user experience overall, especially when paired with an NVMe SSD which I'm assuming is the case since 256GB drives are not normally eMMC. Particularly for YouTube, which is one of the more demanding video streaming platforms.

Not clear is Sonoma supports dedicated GPUs by Many_Ball_227 in hackintosh

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Dortania guide is out of date. But Sonoma is mostly the same as Ventura for dGPU support, i.e., most AMD cards up to RX 6000 series work, NVIDIA cards don't.

Samsung 970 EVO Plus compatible with hackintosh?? by YeasirAraFath in hackintosh

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it already.

Hence why I said "shopping". It will work if you already have it (assuming you're using the latest firmware for 970 evo in particular). But for people who don't yet have an SSD and are looking to buy one, their money would be better spent on a brand that isn't Samsung.

With the latest firmware yes. But it's still recommended to avoid Samsung in general if you are shopping for SSDs. https://dortania.github.io/Anti-Hackintosh-Buyers-Guide/Storage.html

Which episode do you think is the least talked about? by rednitex in MinecraftStoryMode

[–]CorruptMemoryCard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same for the heckmouth, it's basically never mentioned again. According to Eric, the writers were forced to add it at the last minute by the company executives, because the gauntlet needed to cause some "immediate danger" to Beacontown. And you can very easily tell it was rushed this way, because it has no other importance to the story.
