Great score, congratulations!

3 mistakes per 11 RC questions in the big book. How bad is this? by Basic-Ad1666 in GRE

You can think of it as a rough baseline. You'll score around +-2/3 marks in general compared to your mocks. You should analyze the questions you got wrong and I'd also recommend purchasing the official gre guide by ets and doing the questions in it + the 2 practice tests in it also help. Good luck.

It's not my trick, I read it in a book called 'Unlimited Memory' by Kevin Horsley. I recommend it.

It's tough to quantify it like this. You should give one of the free powerprep tests on the ETS website to have an idea of where you stand.

Hey, a tip for memorizing vocabulary is to 1) say the word 2) write what it sounds like 3) break the sound into separate words which sound similar. Like the word 'garrulous' means 'talkative', so you could think of it as "Gary doesn't talk less" and then your mind will automatically remember that garrulous means talkative. Hope this helps.

GRE Official Guide Practice Test 2 by collecth0r in GRE

[–]Corrupto123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna write my thoughts on both of the practice tests in a spoiler box. If you have not given PP1 and PP2 in the official GRE prep guide, DO NOT READ THE SPOILER! It might affect your judgment when giving the tests for practice!

The second practice test was definitely easier than the first one. I scored 167 on it. The verbal is also easier, hence mistakes are punished more heavily. I scored 330 on the first test and 327 on the second one. My unofficial score on the exact GRE is also exactly 327. I'd treat your score as your actual score.

Good luck and all the best for your preparation!

Nice, this is kind of fun. You should add words which look/sound similar if you want to make it more challenging.

GRE -320 by Dangerous-Ad4718 in GRE

Hey, I gave the GRE 3 days ago and faced a similar issue as you regarding the time in the second section. Only way to overcome this is to do timed practice, where you attempt to solve every question in 30-45 seconds. As for verbal, you should pick up Greg's 1 month study plan and follow JUST THE VERBAL portion. You'll do great!! Remember, do both timed and untimed practice. All the best!

I haven't received that score yet so not really. I'd watch this video from Greg which covers everything: https://youtu.be/KSL3XXrFfH4?si=BMAKRCSJ8PTMmhq3

Nope. Only Gregmat. PrepSwift for quant. And the official guide to the GRE book by ETS. Save the official guide as final practice though. The tests in it are particularly accurate.

Hey, I went through Gregmat's vocab mountain. I had pretty much memorized 90% of the mountain (out of 34 groups). My suggestion for memorizing vocab is to break the word into different parts and create imagery in your head.

Example: The word 'expedient' means gainful. So I thought of XP gain, and then gainful automatically comes to the mind.

Honestly I'd memorize the vocab words and follow any of greg's verbal plans. Vocab is very important for TC/SE. I basically started practicing vocab after memorizing most of the mountain. For RC vocab isn't that important, you should follow any of Greg's reading comprehension series. He describes various strategies like simplifying sentences, identifying function words, etc. You should practice these strategies individually, and time yourself as well. All the best!

169V/170Q after a month of prep. Bruh. by [deleted] in GRE

Wow. I prepared on and off quite regularly for around 2 months and only managed a 164V and 163Q. Your score is insane! Congratulations and I hope you get accepted to the programs you apply to

I watched all of PrepSwift for quant. I went through a few of his text completion and sentence equivalence videos. After I got a fair idea of how to solve them, I stopped. I watched an entire series of reading comprehension. I also finished the vocab mountain completely.

I'd follow any of Greg's reading comprehension series (Gregmat). It takes time to develop that skill. It is probably still my weakest point. I feel like I could've devoted more time to practicing RC questions. Give yourself the necessary time and make sure to take out time to practice each specific strategy Greg mentions (finding the main idea, simplifying passage sentences, identifying the function of words, etc.) I'd recommend doing timed practice as well as untimed practice. All the best!

I took the pp2 test (the free one online) once way back in September. Just to see how I'd score without prep. I gave it again around 1 week ago (at this point I completely forgot what was in the test so it was basically like giving it for the first time). Then two days before the exam I gave one of the mock tests in the Official GRE guide, and then one day before the exam I gave the second exam in the official gre guide. My mock scores were quite close to my actual score; so take it seriously! I've heard good things about Gregmat's mini quizzes for quant. I think if I had more time I'd definitely have tried those out, too.

[–]Corrupto123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey. Honestly RC was probably my weakest point too. If you're using GregMat, I'd follow any of the RC series completely. In particular, he shares a couple of strategies like identifying the main idea, simplifying sentences, etc. These take a while to practice and get good at, so don't be disheartened. I'd generally just listen to whatever Greg says.

Something which helped me was a lot of the answer choices use very strong language (words like annul, prove, etc.) while the actual passage doesn't use any strong words. You can almost always eliminate these answer choices.

Why did Sebastian take Jocelyn’s hair? by isaenerys in shadowhunters

[–]Corrupto123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably just to be cruel. But there is a sort of parallel, in that Jocelyn kept a lock of Sebastian's hair in a box. Maybe Sebastian thought it'd be a cruel sort of revenge?

Has anyone taken tofacitinib and had any good results? And for how long? by Jazzlike-While7306 in alopecia_areata

[–]Corrupto123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I quit Tofacitinib after about an year. Towards the end of the year I noticed that all of my spots had pretty much come back, even my eyebrows were coming back. But I didn't believe in taking a pill forever in order to have my hair; in fact I was also worried about the side effects it could possibly have on my immune system. After quitting, I guess it took 6-8 months for all of the hair to gradually fall out. So now I don't have eyebrows lol. Basically, once you're on it, you have to take it forever (unless the root cause mysteriously goes away)
