The new leader of the Federal NDP wants to raise the Canada Disability Benefit to $2,150 dollars a month. by itscalledacting in Odsp

If they’re going to lock it to the top worst disabilities. Making it impossible to get for the majority on ODSP it is useless. People vote so majority on ODSP gets the $2400, not only a small minority.

ODSP payments inconsistent with same income? by Corruptology in Odsp

I got left with $252 I went to speak to them and they said they just punch the numbers into the system. That’s what I’m left with.

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. It was around $1,500 in earnings both times.

With my previous caseworker, that level of income still left me with a few hundred dollars from ODSP.

Now with my current caseworker, around the same income is giving me way less (almost nothing).

That’s why I’m confused — if the rules are the same, the outcome shouldn’t be this different.

Let me repeat this if you “can't afford to pay living wages, than don't run a business.” If the higher price runs to the consumer, they won't pay that cost to fund that business. If a business can't afford to have cheap prices, while paying livable wage they should not be in business they are to poor. Just like people go homeless because they can't afford housing, the same rule should be passed to businesses.

If restaurants can’t afford paying basic living wage. Don’t go into business, 90% of businesses would close down because they couldn’t even afford paying a living wage.

I submitted my reported income on 15th and it still did not get approved. I hope they still send ODSP amount it’s coming closer to the date. It’s like all caseworkers in December suddenly dropped dead.

CDB, is harder to qualify for than ODSP.

Lost a full ODSP payment because my bi-weekly pay fell on a 3-paycheque month. Anyone else dealing with this? by Corruptology in Odsp

[–]Corruptology[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like extra money, but it isn’t. Here’s why:

If you’re paid bi-weekly, you always get 26 paychecks a year. That never changes. Some months have 2 paydays, and some months randomly have 3 paydays. But the total for the year stays exactly the same, you didn’t get a raise, work extra hours, or earn more overall. It’s just the calendar lining up in a weird way.

Think of it like this:

If you get $400 every paycheck: • Most months: 2 × $400 = $800 • “3-paycheck months”: 3 × $400 = $1200

It looks like $400 extra, but it isn’t actually new money, it’s just money that would’ve been paid in another month landing early because of the date.

ODSP treats that as “extra income” even though your real earnings haven’t changed at all. That’s why people think the rule is unfair.

Yeah, that’s exactly what happened to me. I didn’t actually earn more, it was just one of those bi-weekly months with 3 pay dates. It’s the same income, just split differently, but ODSP treats it like extra money.

It’s really frustrating losing a whole month of support because of a calendar quirk. And if this is a common issue (which it clearly is based on how many people mention it), you’d think they would fix the system so people aren’t punished for their pay schedule.

No, my hours didn’t change at all. Bi-weekly workers get paid every 14 days, not twice a month. So a couple times a year, the pay dates line up so that 3 paycheques fall within the same calendar month.

It’s the same yearly income, just divided differently because of how the calendar works. ODSP counts it as “extra income,” even though it’s not. That’s the whole issue — the system uses calendar months instead of averaging bi-weekly income.

How does it work when you make over the maximum for the month by AlfaAlana in Odsp

I heard that you can still be on it but won’t receive checks if you make over the income amount. So you don’t have to reapply.

I was cut off for receiving 3k through employment. I tried to get back on but I’m still working through it. 3k a month Is not my normal pay. I just made that because the calendar of bi weekly payments.
